The Hamilton East facility will begin a 5S initiative on February 4th, 2013, starting with the Moto-Blocks area from floors 23F to 28F. 5S is a methodology for organizing, cleaning, and standardizing the workplace and aims to change how employees approach their work, workplace, and each other. The steering committee will provide additional updates about the 5S project through notice boards, mill television, and the USW 5328 website.

5 S Project Announcement
Beginning on Monday February 4th, 2013 the Hamilton East facility will
begin our 5-S initiative.
The Steering Committee has selected the Moto-Blocks from 23F to 28F for
our first project.
SORT – SITUATE – SHINE – STANDARDIZE – SUSTAIN
5S is not simply about cleaning up a shop floor. It’s an idea that reshapes
how we think about our workplace and will provide a foundation for
significant improvement. It’s a way to change how we approach our work,
our workplace, and each other.
