Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Hazing is absolutely not tolerated,
condoned, or accepted in the Baldwin

University policies are very specific in
prohibiting activities that could lead to
such events. The national policies of

laws.
2. FAQ’s
About Panhellenic Recruitment
Recruitment Parties
During the week of recruitment, there are three different rounds of parties that
occur. These parties give you an opportunity to learn about Fraternity and
Sorority Life at BW, as well as about the individual sororities. This is also an
opportunity for the members of the chapters to get to know you and educate you
about sorority life. Below are descriptions of the parties, as well as a brief
description of appropriate attire for each night.
Philanthropy/Social (Night 1-Wednesday OR Thursday)
During these events, Potential New Members will have the opportunity to get to
know sisters from each of the 5 chapters. This is a time to learn about each
chapter’s philanthropy, and meet several members in a more informal setting.
Take time during this part to ask questions to chapter members that you may
have to get a better understanding of what it is like to be a member of that
chapter and Fraternity/Sorority Life as a whole. Lite refreshments will be
provided for your enjoyment. Dress for this evening is business casual.
Sisterhood Night (Night 2-Friday)
During these events, Potential New Members will be invited back to certain
chapters. This is based upon mutual selection from the Potential New Member,
as well as the chapters. This is a night where chapters are going to showcase
their sisterhood and share in depth why they decided to become members. You
will learn more about how the chapter works (chapter meetings, events, etc.)
and gain a better sense of the chapter as a whole. During this night, it is
imperative to ask deeper questions to chapter members that may aide you in
finding that deeper understanding of what it really means to be Greek. Dress for
this event is business casual attire.
Preference Night (Night 3-Saturday)
Preference parties are by invitation only, and based on the mutual selection
process, Potential New Members will only attend 2-3 parties. This is a time
when PNM’s will gain a closer look at sorority life, each chapter’s sisterhood in a
formal setting. Dress for this evening is more formal, cocktail attire.
How do I decide which chapter to join?
Recruitment is a mutual selection process for the potential
new members and the chapters. Each night you will visit the
chapters, and as the week goes on you will realize which
sororities you feel a natural fit with, and the chapter members
will figure out which new members inspire them. You will fill
out a recruitment ranking each night outlining which sorority
you felt most comfortable and had the best interactions. This
is not necessarily a process that the chapters or the Potential
New Members are able to control, but it is one that requires
patience and trust. If you trust the process, all will end up
well.
How do I register for recruitment?
You can register for sorority recruitment online at
https://www.bw.edu/stulife/greek/recruit/sorority/. You
must be registered by September 14th to participate in
formal recruitment.
What is a legacy?
A Legacy is any
Potential New Member
who has a mother,
grandmother, or sister
who is/was a member of
a sorority while in
college. You should talk
to your family members
to see if any of those
respective individuals
were members of any of
the chapters on BW’s
campus.
I am hesitant about going
through recruitment,
because I'm not sure what to
expect. How do I know if
Fraternity and Sorority Life is
right for me?
You will never know until you try!
Try by going through Formal
Recruitment! You will get to meet all
the chapters, spend time with their
members, and see all that the
Fraternity and Sorority Community
has to offer!
What do sororities look for in their members?
It is difficult to pin point what sorority women are looking for. A
strong academic background is important to sororities since they
require a minimum grade point average. Sorority women are
looking for members who are compatible with their current
members. Most importantly, sororities are looking for members who
want to participate, be active, and stay active in the chapters.
Membership selection is not an easy task, and it varies from sorority
to sorority. Every chapter wants to add a diverse, comfortable, and
active group of new members every year. Just be yourself, and let
your personality shine.
What are the responsibilities of a
chapter member?
Chapter members are the sole reason that a chapter either thrives of
struggles. Members have several responsibilities including
attending events, paying dues, and being an active member and
leader in the chapter. Honestly, chapter members get out only as
much as they are willing to put into their chapter. There are weekly
chapter meetings usually held on Sunday evenings which members
are expected to attend. Each chapter also has their own
philanthropy and community service events, plus any social events
they create. Greek Council, CPC, and IFC create events for the
entire community, and there is always time for bonding and making
memories with your sisters.
3. The Interfraternity
Council Creed
We, the Interfraternity Council, exist to
promote the shared interests and values
of our member fraternities: leadership,
service, brotherhood, and scholarship.
We believe in Fraternity and that the
shared values of Fraternity drive the IFC
to create better communities, better
chapters, and better men.
We work to advance the academic
mission of the host institution, to enable
fraternal organizations to grow and
thrive through collaboration and
teamwork, to provide an outlet for self-
governance and accountability, and to
model and teach ethical leadership. In a
spirit of mutual support and betterment,
we, the men of the Interfraternity
Council, pledge to elevate the Ritual and
the values of the member organizations.
