Sudip Ray has worked hard and performed exceptionally well in establishing the foods business for Hindustan Levers in the harsh terrain of North Eastern India in 1979, receiving several accolades and exemplary sales figures. He was later selected to train new employees and management trainees at Hindustan Levers, most of whom went on to take senior roles inside and outside the company. In 2008, his strong training skills led to a role as a sales training manager at Centum Learning Limited. In 2011, when the author wanted to set up a sales training department at Perfetti Van Melle India Ltd., Sudip was the first person who came to mind due to his seasoned experience, and he helped establish the department in the

I have known Sudip Ray since 1979, when he joined Hindustan Levers as a Territory Sales In-
Charge (TSI). I have yet to come across a more hard-working, sincere and honest individual. We
worked together in the North Eastern region of India, which was then considered some of the
harshest terrain of the country, where he was instrumental in establishing the foods business.
For his outstanding performance in the region, he received several accolades and his sales
figures were exemplary.
Sudip was later selected to train new joiners and management trainees in Hindustan Levers.
Most of these individuals have gone forward and taken senior assignments and positions within
and outside the company. His training of the distributor salesmen was also of a very high order.
Seeing his training skills he was offered the job of a sales training manager in Centum Learning
Limited, who were a sister concern of Airtel, in 2008,where he did extremely well in training the
field staff.
In 2011 as the Sales Director of Perfetti Van Melle India Ltd., I wanted to set up the Sales
Training Department, in PVMI to induct and train all the field staff. When I realized that I
needed seasoned, experienced individuals to establish and take this idea forward, the first
person that came to my mind was Sudip. It is to his credit, as the sales training manager, that
we were able to establish the department in the North Zone. Though we were reluctant to
release him, he chose to honor his personal commitments and be with his family in Kolkata.
I have a lot of respect for Sudip’s character and the sense of integrity which he has shown in the
years gone by. I wish him the best in all of his future endeavors.
