Boardroom Metrics Success Story - Advertising Executive
Recommendation letter from Gord Bartels
1. October 25, 2002
To Whom It May Concern,
I am pleased to write this recommendation for Mr. Dallas Hills.
For the past 1½ years, Mr. Hills has worked in TransCanada as an IT Associate
Specialist, working on a variety of initiatives. In this capacity, he has assisted a
distributed team with two major application deployments and was an integral part of the
initial testing phase to ensure the new products would function properly within our
environment. During these activities, Mr. Hills demonstrated excellent team building and
communication skills. Although junior in his role, his proactive nature led to many
problems quickly being resolved, all of which he ensured were well documented and
communicated to the team so all could benefit from his learning’s.
Within the IT desktop support role, I have had the opportunity to observe his patience and
thoroughness when providing assistance to our clients. This led to Mr. Hills quickly
developing strong working relationships with our business partners. His enthusiasm and
work ethics are excellent. Also during this time, Mr. Hills looked after many of the not so
glamorous tasks without question, always eager to tackle the next job.
In conversation with Mr. Hills, I am impressed by his commitment to his work,
consistently meeting or exceeding expectations. I am sure that Mr. Hills will be an asset
to your organization and am pleased to recommend him.
Sincerely,
Gordon Bartels
Senior Specialist/Project Lead

Subject: Reference: Dallas Hills
As the IS Specialist for TransCanada’s Rocky Mountain Region, I
have been accountable for the performance of Dallas Hills since
he was hired in July 2001. Dallas was hired as a co-op student
after graduating from the College of the Rockies, Microsoft
Certified Professional Training program. His original 3-month
placement was extended to 2 years because of his highly regarded
abilities.
During Dallas’ time with TransCanada,he has demonstrated behaviors that are indicative of a
motivated, dedicating and hardworking individual. Dallas’ adaptability and eagerness to learn
has resulted in a promotion to the assistant of the Project Leader for the Field Functional Support
Team. Dallas’ new role is temporary in nature, but equally as challenging. He was chosen for
this job because has proven that his skills in desktop support are
superb. He is equally capable of working either individually or
within a team setting. His ability to “get the job done” is
unsurpassed.
Dallas’ greatest asset is his ability to share knowledge with his
fellow team members. Tasked with creating a team manual to
capture new-hire questions, Dallas took the challenge one step
further to create an on-line knowledge center for the entire
team.
Again, I would highly recommend Dallas Hills for a position with
your organization. He will, without doubt, become a valuable and
dedicated asset to your organization.
Respectfully submitted for your consideration,
John Stadnyk
