The promise of DevOps is to further improve our ability to make holistic optimizations from business to software delivery to operations and ultimately increase feedback into our business decision making processes. This promise involves the application of The Three Ways as described by Gene Kim: Flow, Feedback and Continuous Experimentation and Learning. Even for those that were able to take advantage of Agile software development we can not sit on our laurels.
