Viarne and Lilli wanted to calculate the cost of buying outfits for all the girls in their class NH2. There are 22 girls total between the 5th and 6th grades. They determined that the average cost of a whole outfit is $157.92. To find the total cost, they multiplied the average cost by the number of girls, determining that it would cost approximately $3,474.24 to buy outfits for all the girls.

PLKLHT was the school the author attended in Hong Kong. It was similar to schools in movies, with desks and bringing only utensils for lunch. Recess came before class. The author's living accommodation was a small, hot apartment with an uncomfortable bed that took up most of one room. Their buddy had a different lifestyle, going to bed later and waking earlier to brush teeth and do homework. The author tried new foods in Hong Kong like shark fins, goose feet, and chicken feet, as well as moon cakes, dragon fruit, and dog, but did not enjoy most. Transportation is also different, with mini buses, taxis, and the underground MTR system instead of trains.

Aiden had a bored Sunday morning until he got the idea to do a school project about a trip to Mars. He used math to calculate that the average speed of the trip would be 10,611.3 KPH and take 214 days. On Mars, Aiden encountered Olympus Mons, the tallest mountain, over 3 times taller than Mount Everest. He took a stroll in his spacesuit and met the Mars rover Pathfinder, riding it for a few hours before realizing it would take over 65 years to circle Mars at its slow speed. Aiden then called his parents on his mobile phone, but the conversation lasted 45 minutes due to the delay for radio signals to travel from Mars to Earth.

The document summarizes what would happen if one were to attempt an actual journey to the center of the Earth. It calculates that with no stops, it would take around 4 months to reach the center, traveling at a walking speed of 1.5 m/s. Factoring in stops for sleep, meals, etc. it would take around 5.5 months. It also notes that the extreme heat, around 7000 degrees C, would cause almost instant death. The route would go down a volcano crater and then through the crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core. The terrain would transform from rock to molten magma to solid iron inner core while traversing the spherical shape of the planet.
The Muslim religion was first introduced to Indonesia in the 8th century by Arab traders, but it was not until the 13th century that it began to widely spread, helped by some local rulers converting. As of 2010, approximately 85% of Indonesians identified as Muslim, making it the largest Muslim-majority country. Since adopting Islam, Indonesian culture has seen major changes to clothing, food, prayer, and traditions to align with Muslim practices and expectations, such as women wearing hijabs, only eating halal food, and praying five times daily. However, many traditional art forms and celebrations have been maintained in addition to adopting holidays like Eid and Ramadan.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
1. An outfit for all the girls in
NH2
By Viarne and Lilli
2. Our Questions
. How much would it cost to buy an outfit for all
the girls in NH2?
.What’s the average amount of money spent on a
whole outfit?
3. Intro
We have always loved FASHION. Together with Meredith's help
we came up with an idea for a math project that we both liked
the idea of. We have decided to buy an outfit for all the girls in
NH2.
We really hope you
ENJOY!
4. Who are the girls
(grade 5’s)
1.Viarne
2.Lilli
3.Ava
4.Sascha
5.Payam
6.Muna
7. Salma
8. Alice
9. Anjali
10.Holly
5. Who are the girls
(grade 6’s)
1. Ariel
2. Olympia
3. Isabel
4. Simona
5. Monique
6. Ana
7. Jasmine
8. Emma
9. Betty
10. Poppy
11. Mathilda
12. Katrina
6. How many girls are we buying for?
Alltogether we will be buying for 22 girls and the
way we worked that out was because there are
10 grade 5 girls and 12 grade six girls and
10 + 12 = 22
7. Our list of shops
(where the girls would choose their outfit to be from)
1. Sports Girl
2. Valley girl
3. witchery
4. Cotton On
5. Just Jeans
6. Jay Jays
8. Our graph
This graph
shows the
popularity
of each sportsgirl
shop. We
valley girl
surveyed
each girl witchery
and asked Cotton on
what their just jeans
favourite
shop was jay jays
from the
list of
shops
provided.
34. What’s the average amount spent on a
whole outfit?
Top- $39.02
jeans-$55.60
Shoes-$63.30
We have put together a whole outfit and what we know
the average amount for each piece of clothing is, and now
we will add it all up to see what the overall average price
is.
$157.92
To get the average,we individually added up each set of
items e.g tops jeans shoes. Once we had a total we
divided by 22.
35. What’s the approximate amount spent
on all the girls in NH2
Now that we know the average amount spent on an
outfit is $157.92 Lets now multiply it by 22
(knowing that’s how many girls are in NH2) so we
can see how much it will approximately cost to buy
an outfit for all the girls in NH2.
22 X 157.92 = 3,474.24
It would approximately cost 3,474.24 dollars to buy
an outfit for all the girls in NH2.
36. Math Strategies used during this
project…..
During this Maths project we have used lots of
different math strategies and solutions.
Because we have been working with cost we
have used addition +
We have used multiplication X
We have also used graphs to show the
popularity of the shops.
37. THANK YOU SO MUCH
FOR PAYING
ATTENTION, WE HOPE
YOU ENJOYED OUR
PRESONTATION
