READING
-It is a complex cognitive process of
decoding symbols in order to
construct or derive meaning. It is a
means of language acquisition, of
communication and of sharing
information and ideas.
READING PROCESS
- Is a complex interaction between the
text, the reader and the purposes for
reading, which are shaped by the
reader’s language community which is
culturally and socially situated.
Stages of Reading Process:

  • Pre Reading


  • Reading


  • Post Reading
– activating background
 knowledge, setting purposes for
 reading, making predictions and
previewing a book, questioning and
making predictions about the story.
- here is a variety of ways to engage
   students in the reading process.
- application of what the students
               read.
•Reading can make you knowledgeable.
•Reading can improve your vocabulary and
language skills.
•Reading boosts your creativity.
•Reading can bring you into many places
around the world.
•Reading can influence a person’s
beliefs, ambitions, aspiration and
      inspiration.
•Reading can make you adapt to different
cultures, traditions and practices.
Develop Awareness About The Arising
 Problems Related To Reading Comprehension
•Read
       -read a selection of text.
•Self- translate
       -at the end of each section, stop and explain to
yourself what you         read.
•Troubleshoot
       -go back to each word you don’t understand and
see if you can make       sense of the paragraph.
•Re- read
       -re- read the trouble spot to see if it now makes
sense.
•Try a fix up strategy
       -use the glossary and other vocabulary aid.
