Every creature needs to rest. Giraffes, little
babies, elephants, dogs, cats, kids, koala bears,
grandparents, moms, dads, and hippos in the
jungle – they all sleep! Just like eating, sleeping
isnecessaryforsurvival.
Sleep gives our body rest and allows it to
prepare for the next day. It's like giving our body
a mini vacation. Sleep also gives our brain a

be the time when the brain sorts and stores
information, replaces chemicals, solves
problems.
The amount of sleep a person needs depends a
lot on his or her age. Babies sleep a lot – about

need about 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night.

Why Do Eyes Water? - Ishita Tiwari (V B)
walked into a Smokey room? If so you may have noticed your eyes
tearing up as protection against the smoke. Even though the particle
that makes up smoke is too small to see, they can still bug your eyes.
Eyes might also water if you're around an onion that's being peeled or
chopped. The prunes onion gives off actually contains chemicals that
can get in your eyes and make them hurt. Things that can dry out your
eyes, like- cold air or wind will make eyes water too, so protect the
eyes from getting too dry, the tear glands crank out the tears. Imagine
skiing down a hill with dry eyes as all that wind rushed at you. That
would really hurt! Eyes also tear when they have allergies, infections
like cold, conjuctivities. All of these irritations can inflame the eyes
andmakethemwater.
Eyes water for lots of different reasons
besides crying –anything that irritates the
eye can bring on tears because the eye will
try to wash it out. So when something gets
stuck in there-like dirt or an eyelash- here
comes the tear! You can't always see the

Please don't cut me -
Shubhla Dahariya (VII B)
No! Please don't cut me,
I am just a mere tree,
What harm would I cause?
Happy as I was,
Please don't cut me down,
I will give peace to your town.
Let me be your friend, and I will never let
this friendship end.
No! Please don't cut me,
I am just a mere tree,
Please let me live,
Happiness is what I need,
Love is what I breed.
Deforestation is never the
conclusion, this is not the
solution.
I want to shine
It will be mine
You just wait and see
What I can be
I want to fly
Very high in the sky
Like a bird who is free
Rather than still as a tree
One day will come
When I will become
And you all will see
What I wanted to be
The world is wide
And on your side
Why to kill it?
Why to harm it?
Did it harm you?
Did it harm me?
Not so save it!
Pollution-less
And cleanliness
It is good for all
It is good for all

Amazing Lions - Sonia Morodia (VI - B)Christopher Columbus -
Debmalya Bhowmik (VII - A)
Books are like a treasure
They give a lot of pleasure
Running crazy with
Suspense and mystery
Or finding about Indian history
Enriched with knowledge
They act as our guide in college
My passion is reading
Which affects the life I am leading
A friend of all, a foe of none
Books are a perfect company for everyone
When the leaves fall off the tree
Everybody walks on them.
Once they had a time of ease
High above; and the very breeze
Used to stay and talk to them.
Then they were debonair
As they fluttered up and down.
Dancing in the sunny air
Dancing without knowing there
Was a gutter in the town.
Now they have no place at all
All the home that they can find
Is a gutter by a wall
And the wind that waits their fall
Is an apache of a wind !

Columbus was a wise man
Who thought the earth was round
He planned to sail across the sea
Where trading could be found!
Though Kings did not believe in him
And men thought he would fail
He found one friend, the Spanish Queen
Who gave him ships to sail
The crew rebelled, the sea was rough;
In 1492,
still this brave man kept sailing on
In spite of sea and crew
But when they spied America,
They landed with a cheer
And that is why we celebrate
Columbus Day each year!
