The document introduces POP (Prototyping on Paper), a tool that allows users to turn hand-drawn sketches into clickable prototypes. It recommends sketching out screens and getting feedback from friends through user testing. The tool can be found on the App Store and more information is available at go.osu.edu/popapp. Users are encouraged to disclose their ideas to the Technology Commercialization Office (TCO) for assistance in making their sketches interactive.
Mobile marketing is more than just a novelty, it is an entirely new way of communication. With the right strategy it can deliver significant ROI, with the wrong idea it will simply be a waste of time, effort and money. Do mobile because your customers want information on the go, don't do mobile through an obligation to being an innovator.
My presentation deck for Ohio State's College of Engineering, Human Factors and Ergonomics, ISE5640 Class. One of the class project options is to prototype an app concept, talking with users/stakeholders, iterating on that feedback etc.

Digital Prototypes: Work Smarter, Not HarderMichelle Chin
“Work smarter, not harder” is an adage we’ve heard at some point in our careers. From our vantage point, it’s as good in theory as it is in practice, especially when it comes to something as complex as wireframing for responsive sites. In this session we review our approach for creating efficient wireframes that facilitate a tight working relationship between UX and Dev and also ‘wow’ the client. Plus, we’ll talk about the pros and cons of the approach and how best to implement this solution at your workplace, for your client.
Reply Labcamp: Test before you Invest, A Guide to Rapid Prototyping (Design D...Jay Suthar
Organised and presented an introductory labcamp in the process of fast prototyping for mobile app development - outlining user needs, exploring layouts for necessary content, applying common user interface patterns, considering functionalities, features and validating designs. Devised hands-on group activity; using pen, paper and Marvel App to rapidly sketch and manipulate concepts for a mobile eCommerce fashion product detail page to test.
My introductory slides on interaction design and the basics of prototyping for the Intelligent Interactive Systems master's Information Science course given at the University of Amsterdam.
A basic primer in design principles and rules of thumb to help non-designers get their work looking good. Also, a collection of resources and links for cheap and free design assets and further reading

Fringe User Experience: Designing for the Future Kristin Low
Before Wearables and the Internet of Things (IoT), designing for Mobile was "the next big thing." While Mobile devices have proliferated faster than anyone anticipated, our practice as User Experience designers is still lagging: put simply, we're still figuring this out. But when the medium of our profession is advancing faster than the principles that underpin it, how do we evolve as practitioners? Is the future of UX tied to keeping up with the latest technology only, or is there something deeper to the practice of UX which needs to be identified and developed to help us make sense of the rapidly unfolding future?
In this keynote address, Hong Kong based User Experience practitioner, facilitator and trainer Kristin Low will explore the future of User Experience - Fringe UX - and what the rapid advances in technology mean for our practice as User Experience professionals.
A talk I have at GDEX 2022, the Midwest Gaming conference. The theme this year was art among other things and I did a talk on how AI art tools are changing, everything. This is a space right now largely ignored in biz circles but it is the very foundation of next. I talk about how the empires are rushing to adopt, streamline and infuse AI everywhere in their products, experiences, you name it. Luckily you too can get in on the game and leverage it as well.
This talk covers and shows the trend of ai, artificial intelligence and more.
A talk I have a out of state client on who, what and how to approach the Columbus Ohio startup ecosystem. Just a glance and a tasty of players, playgrounds and opportunities to explore.
Ritual Simplicity - Westerville Web Meetup January 2019 talkDan Rockwell
Note the ritual experience like aspect your product or startup creates for users. Study how rituals create long lasting loyalty to a brand. Here we discuss technology and absinthe and look at the parallels between making user experiences with ritualistic simplicity.
Human Factors meets Augmented and Virtual Reality TalkDan Rockwell
I had the pleasure of giving a talk on the intersect of human factors design and augmented and virtual reality last night to a group of students at Ohio State University. I believe this to be a whole new front and opportunity for the human factors field in the sense that once again innovation is steaming way past "wait is this really usable" once again. Students in this field should embrace this whole new frontier of interaction and be bold, envision and enable the new truth of immersive interactive reality.
A talk I gave recently at the Westerville Web meetup group. Talking about a notion in my head lately about how I need to be a steward of possible for my clients- helping them navigate ideas to market.
My talk for Columbus Startup Week- the army is about what you can do to get your idea going. Its about the vast power of the web- tools, sites, tricks, services you can leveage. Its EVERYONE, ONLINE, SERVICES, OUTSOURCING.
Staying Sane in Startup Columbus, my ignite talk.
#cmhstartupweek
This deck features a few of my "hive" comic doodles. I've been doodling on startups, tech, trends, vc, biz, dev, themes for 5 years now, another thing I do and rare expose to anyone other than me. Many of these doodles are likely funny only to me and are almost always hinged or connected to a related story or context i was experiencing at that time. The "Hive" is satirical, dark, often negative, and down right bizarre take on the insanity of the whole scene. These little people run companies, attempt to make things and rubberneck on the valley effect of our time.
Some day I will publish a book of them. There are many. (65 or so).
Formula for computing your BS meter is:
who you are + reputation / context - caffeine
---------------------------------------------------
current BS reserves / get to the fucking point X time
that = your current BS reserve level
Now that % level dictates how much you can endure in any given startup could be or would be conversation.
For example, my friend Nick, has a .09% reserve level, his tolerance for total startup bullshit is nearly negative, i mean sure he'll acknowledge your presence but enduring the rabbit hole, not happening. Now BrianZ, has a slightly higher reserve level of 3%, high mostly because he does events like Wakeup Startup, etc, but it fluctuates with work loads.
Five years ago I had bs reserve level of nearly 60%, meaning i was an enduring puppy for startup bs, eager for the prize of wtf'ism and more. Sadly today I'm hovering around 30%, cause you're all potentially my client.
enjoy!

Fun conference, fun talk, great crowd, good times!
A startup health trends, quantified self, and assoicated goodness talk I did for GSW Worldwide in Columbus Ohio. As part of their innovation think tank group and Jump Start program to explore and enable new ideas. Much thanks to the collective inspiration of the trends in play that helped inform and addict me into consuming all possible to talk about it. Special thanks to Rock Health IT and Startup Health who provide many inspiring decks and learning materials to fuel my own research on the subject matter. Also special thanks to Lise Worthen-Chaudhari who inspired me with the quote "movement is the medicine".

Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.
