Terrassa is a city located in central Catalonia, Spain. It has a population of over 213,000 people and was originally founded as a Roman town called Egara. In the 19th century, Terrassa played an important role in the industrial revolution and specialized in woollen fabrics. Today, it has a major Modernista architectural legacy from that era. The city has a rich cultural history and possesses several museums that showcase its medieval, Modernist, and industrial past. Sports also play a large role in Terrassa, particularly field hockey in which it has produced many Olympic athletes and hosted the 1992 Olympic field hockey competition.
