• Barcelona, capital of Catalonia, is located on the
western coast of the Mediterranian sea.
• With 1.615.448 inhabitants, Barcelona is the
second biggest city of Spain.
• Barcelona has a Mediterranean climate.
• Its monuments, sculptures and churches
represent Catalan art.
• Barcelona is a cosmopolitan, modern city.
• Since we love sport very much, we have lots of

1-“La Pedrera”
Designed by the Catalan architect Antoni
Gaudí, it was built during the years 1906–
1912. It is located in “Passeig de Gràcia” in a
district called “l’Eixample”.
In 1984, it was declared a World Heritage site.

• The “Palau de la Música
Catalana” was designed by
Lluís Domènech i Muntaner, a
modernist architect, like Gaudí.
• “L’Orfeó Català” Barcelona’s
choir sings there
• When it was built, advanced
architectural technologies
were used.
• Nowadays it is used for
concerts.
3-“Sagrada Família”
• “Sagrada Família” was designed by Antoni
Gaudí.
• The church is a World Heritage Site too.
• Now “Sagrada Família” is still under
construction and when it is finished, Sagrada
Família will have 18 towers: 12 dedicated to
the apostles, 4 to the evangelists, one to
Jesus and finally one to Mary.

• “Casa Batlló” is located in the heart
of Barcelona and is one of Antoni Gaudí’s
masterpieces.
• “Casa Batlló” was redesigned in 1904 and has
been refurbished several times after then.

The most important are Park Güell(1),
Montjuic (2), the Ciutadella(3), the Zoo (4) and
the Forum (urban park) (5).

you can have a wonderful view of the city.
• In 1984, the Park was included in “Obras de
Gaudí” World Heritage.

• Montjuic is a mountain, and it’s inside
Barcelona too.
• It is 173 metres above sea level .
• There is a castle and a football stadium at the
top of the mountain

• Ciutadella is also a part of the city.
• Inspired by the Luxemburg’s gardens, in Paris.
• Inside the park, there’s our Catalan
Parliament.

• The Zoo is located inside the Ciutadella Park.
• It was inaugurated on the 24th of September
in 1892.
• It has more than 200 different species of
animals, and the best show is the dolphin
show. Kids love it!

• The Forum shares limits with Sant Adrià del
Besòs, another important city of Catalonia.
• It’s an urban park, and every year, different
festivals, including “La Mercè”, Primavera
Sound... are celebrated there

• Barcelona also has several famous museums,
for example MNAC (art), the Olympic and
sport museum, and a very famous theatre:
the Liceu Theatre, our opera house.

most universities also offer degrees in other

Espanya”. It was built at the site of an old
bullring. Bullfighting is prohibited in
Catalonia.
