Family Welfare Focus (FWF)

• FWF is a non-governmental, non-political entity established in
1994 in Kabul with one disabled student, one teacher and only
one room.
• started working with disabled children, particularly the deaf,
providing special health services as well as increasing awareness
about their rights. With the aim of educating Afghan families,
FWF worked to fight the social stigma of disability and enable
disabled children to function successfully in society.
• From the beginning, FWF offered our services to females and
males without discrimination.
FWF Beginnings

• A total of 325 students
currently studying at FWF
• 110 Female Students
• 215 Male Students
• Twenty Eight (28)
Classrooms, Grades 1 to 12
• Ministry of Education
recognized curriculum

FWF Achievements
Nazifullah Qadiri was the first student of
FWF and is now teaching the third year of
middle school at the FWF school.

• 78 students have graduated from
12th
Grade at FWF
• 24 Female Students
• 54 Male Students
• 11 graduates have become teachers
at FWF, contributing back to FWF
• 12 of our graduates have been
employed in other educational
institutions such as Firoz Koh
Institute, Khurshid TV, etc.
• FWF successfully prepared 58
graduates (35 Male, 23 Female) who
passed the annual university
entrance exam (Kankor) and have
entered universities to pursue higher
education

• Curriculum development for the Ministry of Education
• Training trainers/educators (100 total) from across
Afghanistan
• Leadership seminars conducted for graduate students
across the country
• Conduct courses in Project Management, Human and
Children’s Rights, First-Aid, Disability Awareness Training,
and Speech Therapy
• Vocational training has resulted in employment of 280
FWF students
• Published magazines on children’s rights
• Produced a film on human rights in Afghanistan

• FWF is an MOEC-registered Afghan educational NGO with
demonstrated success in addressing the constraints of Afghan
tradition for promoting the rights and education of an
underserved portion of Afghan society.
• FWF has a history of providing services to Afghan women and
children without discrimination.
• FWF will work effectively, transparently and accountably with
Kiron and USAID to identify women whom PROMOTE can assist.
• The RAGA directors are prepared to change the FWF name for
this opportunity, although in Dari the FWF name has a much
broader meaning than the English translation conveys .
