4. What is Radio-Based andTelevision-Based
Instruction?
• The Radio-Based Instruction (RBI) & Television-Based Instruction
(TBI) program is one of the alternative learning delivery modalities
using radio and TV broadcast to deliver the lesson using the student
self-learning modules (SLM).
• One of DepEd’s distance learning modality, it is able to expand access
to education to students living in the remote areas and those students
who are unable to attend face-to-face classes brought about by
COVID-19 pandemic.

Television-Based Instruction
1. The teacher must acquaint themselves with the schedule and
programs of these broadcasts through the relevant available
literature.
2.They must carefully think and plan the integration of the
schedule broadcasting program with his classroom teaching.
3. The teacher must try to prepare his students adequately and
possible educationally as well as psychologically to get the
knowledge and experiences properly which is imparted through
a radio andTV broadcast.

1. Radio-Based Instruction andTelevision-Based Instruction is a one-way
communication. Students cannot ask questions.
2. The students have little opportunities to participate in the instructional
activity. They are passive listeners for most of the time.
3. Difficulty in seeing detailed images in large class rooms.
4. Quality of programs.
5. Telecasting time.
6. A continuing listening on the part of the students may make them
inattentive and uninterested in the task of gaining learning experience.

Preparation Step:
Be aware of telecasting time schedule.
Teacher should be prepared to get more information.
Students should be prepared to receive new knowledge.
Physical environment should be satisfactory.

Television and radio should operate maximum sound and clarity.
Proper discipline should be maintained.
Make the students to take notes.

There should be a lively discussion.
