Radio Broadcasting
By Dahir Karshe
Size, shape and structure
BBC is funded by the money that U.k resident pay for TV licence which
makes the BBC a public service company. Being public service makes
the BBC have better quality and standard because they don’t broadcast
to get more views on their commercial.
BBC Radio now known as BBC Audio & Music is an operational business
division[1] and service of the British Broadcasting Corporation which
has operated in the United Kingdom under the terms of a Royal Charter
since 1927. The service provides national radio stations covering the
majority of musical genres, as well as local radio stations covering local
news, affairs and interests which also oversees online audio content.
Of the national radio stations, BBC Radio 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Live are all
available through analogue radio (5 Live on AM only) as well as on DAB
Digital Radio and internet services through Real Media, WMA and BBC
IPlayer. The remaining stations, BBC Radio 1Xtra, 4 Extra, 5 Live Sports
Extra and 6 Music, all broadcast on digital platforms only.
How big is the bbc?
The bbc are the only public radio service successful in the UK.
the bbc is so big that it has got a wide variety of radio
stations. The bbc is one of the biggest radio broadcasters here
in the uk and all around the world.
The affects of the bbc being public service radio:
The makers don’t have to show whatever they think will be
popular
The makers show what they want the public to see
This makes the quality of the radio have a higher quality and
it is not forced

The bbc in another industry
The bbc are also in the TV broadcasting industry. It has several
different TV channels
The tv license:
What is the tv licence?
The tv license is something that is neccesary everyone that
watches tv or listens to radio have to pay. The proceeds go
to the bbc and other public service broadcasting tv channels
and radio stations.
What happens if you dont pay the tv licence?
The official and much-publicised line on not having a licence is
that the TV Licensing Authority (aka TV
Licensing, TVL, Capita) will take you to court and
prosecute, but they have to do a lot of work to achieve
this, and I wonder just at what point the case is filed under
"too difficult" and conveniently forgotten.
The tv licence insures that the residents in the uk have some
good quality tv and radio (bbc).
