This document discusses project-based learning (PBL) being used at Radians School to actively engage students. It provides examples of middle and high school students participating in hands-on science activities. PBL allows students to directly experience real-world problems in class and acquire deeper knowledge through exploration of challenges. Studies show PBL helps students remember content longer and feel better prepared to problem solve. The school emphasizes developing skills like critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation needed for 21st century success.

In today’s world, day care has become an absolute necessity for working parents who leave their child alone at home. We discuss in depth about day care services, such as the Williamsburg Northside Daycare in Brooklyn, for young children.
How to establish healthy parents teacher relationshipAvinash Fofalia
Children spend the majority of their day with either teachers or parents. Studies have shown that children whose parents-teacher relationship is healthy, perform well academically. Successful education of the child in all spheres needs a solid partnership between the parent and the teacher. Teachers benefit from having an inside view of the child’s psyche. On the other hand, parents are better equipped to academically support their children at home. It is an ideal, win-win situation for everyone involved.

Decoding the Mindset of Young Adults in SingaporeSofiaElamrani
In the field of design research, a golden rule to abide by is to shed off all assumptions and have as little bias as possible. It is no secret that young people are generally labelled in society and the media as being entitled, self-centred, lazy… the list goes on.
After having previously done research on young people in Singapore as part of a project, those were the kinds of preconceived notions we left at the door, and sure enough what we discovered in the end was a completely different narrative - young people who are facing challenges but remain dynamic, resourceful, and active members of the community. The results were so intriguing that we wanted to build on our findings and spend more time developing and seeping through layers of this complex topic. In this piece, our goal is to showcase the stories of young people in Singapore, as well as some of the learnings that we extracted.

Philosophy
Meeting the needs of the whole child as an individual cognitively, physically, social & emotionally, and spiritually. We encourage families to partake in this process because we believe that team work is necessary and that parents are their child’s first teacher.
Vision
Our vision is to help the children we care for to become all they can be through a structured, loving, understanding, and safe, environment.
Mission
Our mission is to engage the students and their families in the learning process. We want to make learning fun and challenging for our children through the arts, and creative play. Each child is thought of as an individual so, we strive to meet their needs through lessons that are geared toward each child without making them feel different or separated from the other children in our care.
The assessment characteristic I will be using to focus on defining quality as a continuum is an ongoing assessment. The Early childhood Assessment is a tool I will be using as an ongoing assessment tool to collect information concerning each child for teachers, and the families of the children in my center. The information I gather will be used daily by myself, teachers, and parents to assess and assist children in the growth and develop process of each child, create a curriculum, set goals, and create an environment that is conducive for them cognitively, physically, socially and emotionally, and language wise. This assessment involves the teachers first observing the children and then documenting their findings. This assessment process will help us to run a more efficient and quality program for children and their families. By using this ongoing assessment tool we will be required to
· keep a record of each child’s growth and development
· specify the children that require extra support
· create an individualized plan for each child
· take note of their strengths and weaknesses
· ensure communication is strong between teachers, parents and other necessary staff members on a regular basis through home visits, parent conferences, and parent involvement activities in the center.
In an effort to ensure continuous improvement in my center will also welcome feedback from our parents.

Week 1/Post 1: Formulating Goals
1.
The two professional goals you developed related to anti-bias education and your work in an early childhood setting.
· Goal 1: Developing relationships to form inclusive communities in the classroom
· Goa1 2: Develop an awareness of how unconscious bias can impact the classroom.
2.
The ways in which the readings and media segment from this week have influenced the formulation of your goals. Be sure to support your comments with specific references to and/or examples from the Required Resources.
According to Walden University (2011) “The world today is a world in which children are going to grow up side-by-side with people who are very, very different from them. The notion of growing up in a community of people very much like you is gone” (pg. 1). I also came across a website “
Teaching Tolerance,” where it discussed critical practices for anti-bias education and teacher leadership. This article was about the importance of valuing and embracing multiple perspectives to reach the best and most comprehensive approach to leadership. The author suggests teacher leaders reflect on what they still don’t know and need to learn about something to seek out professional development for growth in those areas; the author really promotes the idea of having self-awareness to diminish bias and become culturally aware in teacher leader practices (Learning for Justice, 2022). Both the “Walden and Teaching Tolerance” sources are about the road and progression to becoming an anti-bias educator.
3.
The ways in which the implementation of these goals will help you to work more effectively with young children and families.
I aspire to be an anti-biased channel in which students will experience culture in a vast and more comprehensive way. Children’s experiences in education should teach the four goals of anti-bias education (i.e., identity, diversity, justice, and activism) and promote the ultimate goal of equality and social equity for all (NAEYC, n.d.). I am, the compilation of everything experienced in my life. With this, we are constantly growing, changing, adapting new view and discarding others. Each experience builds on the last to continue to reinforce the structure you are each day. As future educators, it is our job to be the future of knowledge. What we say, do, actions we take directly reflect what our students see. Choose your curriculum wisely, but choose your words even more carefully. Take the wealth of knowledge you and only your life has accumulated and share it with each class you have the chance to influence. Be the spark of change and the advocate to every child that walks through your door.
4.
Challenges you might encounter on your journey to become an early childhood professional who understands and practices anti-bias education.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

In PBL (Project-Based Learning), students are
active, not passive; a project engages their
hearts and minds, and provides real-world
relevance for learning.
As we begin this new academic year, we
see the bright and enthusiastic faces of
our students yearning for knowledge.
Exceptional students require exceptional
teaching. As a school offering non-traditional
education, we allow our
students to experience their education in
a very different manner… as active
participants.
Radians School students learn by having
direct experiences in the classroom.
Project-based learning is a dynamic
classroom approach in which students
actively explore real-world problems and
challenges and also acquire a deeper
knowledge.
Studies demonstrate that PBL students
remember learned content for longer
periods of time. PBL students view
themselves as better prepared in
problem-solving and perform better in
tasks that emphasize understanding and
application of knowledge.
In the 21st century workplace, success
requires more than basic knowledge and
skills. In PBL, students not only
understand content more deeply but also
learn how to take responsibility and
build confidence, solve problems, work
collaboratively, communicate ideas, and
be creative innovators.

A VIRTUES-BASED COMMUNITY
2. Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard
battle. ~Plato
Article by Shaya Kass, PhD
I just read a fascinating article about some
research about being kind. I had never really
thought of it, but the authors make a good point
that kindness is the “other side of the coin” of
gratitude.
In their words, they said “Whereas gratitude results
when people receive kindness from other people,
kindness entails enacting kind behavior toward
other people.” Having said this, it is no surprise that
kindness makes people happy since we already know
that gratitude makes people happier.
And being kind will make your child feel good. There
is actually a release of endorphins in your body
when you are kind. Endorphins are similar to mor-phine.
You actually feel good when you are kind. I
wonder if our kids can become addicted to being kind?
What a great addiction that would be! And you sure
wouldn't need any anti-depressants with that kind of
addiction!
The researchers measured kindness in a few different
ways. One way was to ask the participants how often
they thought others were kind to them, how often they
were motivated to be kind to others and how often
they actually were kind to others. I think that first
question is probably the step before gratitude. Once
we recognize that someone has been kind to us, we
can be grateful for it.
The researchers also gave the participants a happiness
measure. Not surprisingly, those people who were
happier were kinder. Or is it that those people who
were kinder were happier?
Either way, we can learn an important lesson. There is
a connection between kindness and happiness. So
as with most other areas of happiness, we get to “kill
two birds with one stone!” Those things that bring
happiness are generally good things to do like being
grateful, being kind and being self-compassionate.
Kindness can be toward friends or strangers. We can
help our kids be kind to family members and teachers.
Kindness toward any of these will help make us
happy.
Happy people scored high in all three areas of
happiness. They wanted to be kind, they recognized
kindness more than unhappy people, and they
have more kind behaviors.
So what are some ideas for kind acts? How about a
smile? Let's teach our kids to give passersby a smile.
And we can give store-clerks a smile. Our kids can
even smile to the driver in the car next to us. Or
perhaps we can do a simple loving-kindness
meditation.
Even a small act like this can help your child to
have a better day and make them happier. This
happiness can spread throughout your family and
improve all the relationships and interactions. How
great would that be!

ERCSA Agricultural Program Ready for
Research and Investigation Projects
Last year our ERCSA Agricultural Project took off with the implemen-tation
of a hydroponic system which produced untold amounts of let-tuce
which was sold to the public. “This year, the hydroponics system
will be expanded to produce even more lettuce and many other types of
produce,” said Prof. Jose Caballero.
As always, students participate actively in the ERCSA program via the
elective course offered by Prof. Luz Burgos. Students, young and old,
are encouraged to pursue research in the center under the auspices of
their science teachers. This program has been featured in El Nuevo
Día and Univision; it has received grants from both Walden
University and the Private Schools Association of Puerto Rico. We
will continue to grow and we look forward to great things this year.
Radians School Promotes Community Service as an
Important Part of an Integral Education
“Why is community service such an
important quality and trait for a person to
possess?” Without community service
people would not know the meaning of
charity and giving back. Community service
can be defined as a service that is per-formed
for the benefit of the public. Commu-nity
service is not a responsibility or an obli-gation;
it is a commitment. A person must
want to do it with good intentions and not
because they are being forced to do so. Basi-cally,
community service is a way for a
person to give back to a community in which
they live.
