- #15 As if all that wasn’t enough, we’re emerging from a global pandemic that has forever changes our businesses and our IT priorities. Cloud usage is ramping faster than ever…BUT realization has set in that not every project we’ve invested in over last 2-3 years is yielding proper ROI. This is creating a focus on multi-cloud workload placement and much more focus on containing costs. BUT – Those two are too often polar opposites of each other! The more distributed your workloads become, the more complexity (and cost) creeps into the business.
- #18 Moving to the cloud can help, but what kind of cloud? Some workloads are great for public clouds like AWS, but that’s not the right platform for every workload. Refactoring legacy apps for the public cloud can be cumbersome, you might would need to change processes, learn new technologies and hire staff certified on running apps in the public cloud. Public cloud certainly has its place but it really is not a one size fits all.
