Horror questionnaire by James Linton<br />Learning objective: To understand what Primary research means, and to define three different ways of collecting it.<br />Learning Objective: To choose one type of primary research, and to create a set of 5-10 questions that will be asked to a control group next lesson.<br />We had to talk about what primary research was and this is research that has not been carried out before. <br />The differences between qualitative and quantitative research is that qualitative research is qualities and writing and quantitative is fixed answers, where you tick boxes and choose numbers. <br />Primary research is the act of collecting original data. This means that the research has to be original and not done before.<br />Types of primary research: questionnaires and this is a way of collecting written date using qualititative and quantitative data. Focus grous is when a group of people are asked questions and their answers are recorded. Social networking sites, questions can be created online for people to answer some examples as creating quizzes, status updates and polls.<br />What is the best to use out of qualitative or quantitative data?<br />Quantitative has numbers and a fixed answer, such as checking boxes. This research can be seen as positive as it is quicker to answer and the results are easier to display. A negative is that the answer that has been collected is an average and it does not represent the whole population and not everybody would agree with the answers given.<br />Qualitative questions has written answers and open questions. I have also discovered that my audience think that both the characters and the atmosphere are most effective in a horror film and the villain is the most popular character. My audience were split between the best locations in a horror film, but the majority of them agreed that they did like to see cliff-hangars in horror. My audience also couldn’t pick which victim should die first in a horror film, with 3 votes each going to a relative of the hero, a friend of the hero and an unknown victim. Tracking shots were considered the most effective in an opening sequence and my audience are scared the most by fears and blood guts and gore. <br />
