theme I went for was
nature, and I chose this
carefully because I knew I
could make the link

webpage and my music
video. By doing this, I
have created a synergy
between all of my

This helps the audience, as the synergy between them gives an ideology for the artist and
makes them recognisable.

nature is a constant

different shots used.

5. Artist Values
In terms of my artist’s values, I have represented
the same values throughout the digipak, website
homepage and music video.
I wanted to get across the fact that my artist is a
strong independent woman, who doesn’t need a
man to fix all of her problems. This message is
reiterated through the lyrics of the song
“So I pull myself aside, take the time to tell
myself it’s alright, ‘cause you weren’t there to
dry my eyes”

6. Within my digipak, my artist is
presented with attitude and self
confidence, again implying this
sense of ‘girl power’ that I was
trying to incorporate.
I then continued this in my
music video, whereby my artist
was represented through close-
ups, mid-shots etc. in order to
further connote her dominance.
I also featured a scene in which
she deletes the guy’s number,
which shows she has the power
in the situation. I also included a
clip in which she deletes the
guy’s number, which indicates
that she’s in control of the
situation.

7. I thought it was important to
reinforce this idea, as the pop-
punk genre is a highly male
dominated genre, and therefore I
wanted to enforce this idea in
order to support women within
the pop-punk scene. Furthermore,
my artist will seem relatable to
other females, as it is still a rarity
to have female front women.

8. Lyrics
• My artist’s values are also represented within
the lyrics of the song.
• For example, parts like ‘and I swore to myself, I
wouldn’t lie to myself, how could I let this
happen’. This connotes the rawness of the
artist, as she is sharing her deepest emotions
with the audience, in order for them to
sympathise and relate to the situation she is
in.

9. Lyrics such as ‘So I pull myself aside, take the time
to tell myself it’s alright’ connotes the idea of the
artist realising that she has to be strong in order
to get over this, and that she does have the power
within herself to do so.
The lyric ‘Cause I’m just too busy, waiting for
nothing’ also implicates the artist being sarcastic
in a way, because the boy meant nothing to her
and he means ‘nothing’, because ultimately that is
all she was ever waiting for.
