2. Research and planning
• Research has helped out a lot in the ways of understanding
how shots are put together, and how the genre is shown to
the audience so they understand what category it is without
being told. It has helped me understand more shots and how
they are used and for what effect, e.g. quick shots will not be
used in a love film, but more like a horror to build tension for
the viewers and make them feel what the character might be
feeling. Planning is crucial for everything, and when you are
filming a film opening, planning must be used so you know
where, when you are filming. If you are doing a horror genre
you must use stereotypical horror places. Dark, dingy, and
scary places to film.
3. Construction
• Constructing the product is very important if you want a good
well done final product. From my preliminary task to now I
have learnt a lot more about the construction of a video. At
the start I only new about a few rules that were used when
filming a video. Match on action, 180 degree rule. Using and
improving my skills on editing software, final cut. I used this to
put my final video together and add sound and titles to my
film where they were appropriate.
