A Critique of the Proposed National Education Policy Reform
Question 5
1. In our media production the two minute opening scene
for our action comedy film “Smarten Up” we are trying
to appeal to a certain audience of teenagers with a
rating of 15 so the audience age is not restricted. Once
we decided on our age group we thought about the
aspects which will target our audience attraction.
2. Music sets up the atmosphere around the
opening scene to make it come across as
exciting and sinister.
Silence could bring up tension and
awareness of what is happening in the
scene.
A deep majestic build up sound could
portray as something bad is going to
happen as it builds up tension.
3. My media product was highly based upon
different opinions with the questions I asked
to different age groups and gender.The
questions were biased as I only did ask about
action movies. However most of it was useful
through every opinion we managed to
understand that within the age group around
16 they will be interested to watch different
action films. A highlight of the answers are
that they involved comedy in each film that
was mentioned.
4. In other action movies we noticed that
guns were involved we also looked at
different bank robberies.They all had
gun involvement we decided to keep this
key point and involve guns ourselves, we
thought in which way we could portray
this.We then all viewed Dark Knight and
thought it could be used as a threat of
putting every hostage in their right
places.

need to be immaculate towards our
audiences there fore we chose to use the
programme After Effects CS4 from the
adobe suit
