Who would be the audience for your media product

Who would be the audience for your media product?
Our Thriller audience:
We decided that our thriller audience would be in the age ranges of
25-35 middle aged people. However it may also appeal to those
above the age of 16 as it depends on personal opinion of genre of
films. Our film has a sub-genre of a conspiracy and so those who
enjoy conspiracy’s would want to watch our film. I think that our film
would also appeal to audiences which have the middle and upper
class social status because after doing research into audiences on the
pearl and dean website I found that similar films, like Se7en and
Disturbia, contained mainly these audiences.
Chosen film magazine: TotalFilm.
I have decided to choose the film
magazine TotalFilm because it
appeals to many audiences and
contains a variety of film reviews.
To be more specific, TotalFilm
mainly does reviews on Hollywood
Blockbuster films that attract the
vast majority of the public. It is clear
that the TotalFilm doesn’t review
children’s films and concentrates on
popular titles. From the picture on
the left, it shows that it backs up my
point by using the words
‘Blockbusters & Beyond’. I think that
TotalFilm would be appropriate for
our thriller opening sequence
because it offers ‘over 10000 film
reviews’ and offers 4 reviews on one
film. This includes cinema, Blu-ray, DVD, Most popular and Most
commented. It is then appropriate for our audience because it offers
reviews on our inspirations such as Se7en, Enemy of the State and
Disturbia. TotalFilm online also allows you to share the review,
comment and shows news and features about the film to give a
dynamic viewpoint. The language of the reviews is modern and is
appropriate for young ages. This is because it uses colloquial words
and posts rhetorical questions, short and to the point sentences and

uses the actors name out of context. This is approupriate for our
audience because our thriller is aimed at middle aged people who are
middle class. This young age group suits TotalFilm due to the
language style of the film. The magazine skips the facts and figures
with mainly quotes and colloquial language that appeals to the young
audience, who get bored easily.
A review from the magazine of our film:
Brakeport productions brings us another blockbuster thriller
starring such actors of Jason Marshgreen and Michael Ruddy who are
on opposites end of the spectrum from each other. The moment that
TouchStone Pictures enters this conspiracy thriller we are shown to
both characters within minutes. Both for different reasons.
Marshgreen shows to be the innocent businessmen who appears to
be out of his place when walking across a farm with an all important
briefcase. The story’s plot offers Marshgreen left on the floor within
minutes and Ruddy stealing the briefcase but with an unknown
identity to the audience. We are then scarred with the numbers (and
of course the title) 27/02 for us to think about but this soon gets
uncovered. Marshgreen becomes obsessed with the mysterious and
classic ‘unknown caller’ and is found to be involved with the CIA.
TwentySeven/02 gives out a fair share of enigmas for the audience to
judge but it also escalates tension throughout by using its £2million
budget to its full potential. Marshgreen, the protagonist, is available
in most shots but accompanied by many hit thriller stars such as Matt
Damon and Morgan Freeman who add to the conspiracy. It becomes
obvious that Ruddy shows antagonist features by being the opposite
of Marshgreen in situation and social status. TwentySeven/02
captures the audience inside its intense edits and conspiracy scenes
that give the viewers a lot to think about. Directors of the film suggest
that viewers should have their ‘own opinion towards the conspiracy
that consists within’. This could imply that there is multiple meanigns
to the ending and perhaps a sequel to reveal it. That’s for you to
decide though.
Verdict:
The blockbuster support cast gives the film a high budget feel yet still
just breaking the £2million budget. TouchStone Pictures shows that
even conspiracy’s today are still worth the viewing over comedies

and that’s where TwentySeven/02 reels into its own. This is one
conspiracy you don’t want to think about missing.
