Who would be the audience for your media
product?
Target audience?
   We researched 3 thriller films that are similar to our film, we found out that
    most thriller films were targeted towards people who wear aged 18+ and 15+.

   We chose our film to be an 18+ because young adults living around us were
    very interested in watching thriller films aged 15+ and 18+.

   However, these films that we researched had explicit and violent themes and
    we tried to link it to our film with the villain antagonist using a knife to kill a
    child, furthermore we didn’t show her killing the child but instead showed her
    going up the attic and then put some non-diegetic sound of screams, which is
    assumed as she killed the child.

   We are targeting young male adults because they relate more and this
    creates an Enigma code because males viewers relate to the film because
    the hero is usually a man and they start feeling they were the hero.
Why are Thriller Films popular?
   There is a hero and a villain
   Usually has many jumpy scenes
   It makes the audience concentrate and relate to the film
   There is always a thrill without anyone ‘seeing it coming’
   There is always a cliff hanger to make the audience feel
    concentrated and builds the tension making the audience
    feel scared
   Crime related plots aren't usually used because they don’t
    really thrill the audience, but are usually murders and
    conspiracy plots.
However…
Although our film was aimed at young adult; that does not
   rule out that older people can’t watch it because we
   also aim it at audience who could be considered as
   regular film lovers and other people who just like to
   watch a thriller as one off like for a night.

  • 1. Who would be the audience for your media product?
  • 2. Target audience?  We researched 3 thriller films that are similar to our film, we found out that most thriller films were targeted towards people who wear aged 18+ and 15+.  We chose our film to be an 18+ because young adults living around us were very interested in watching thriller films aged 15+ and 18+.  However, these films that we researched had explicit and violent themes and we tried to link it to our film with the villain antagonist using a knife to kill a child, furthermore we didn’t show her killing the child but instead showed her going up the attic and then put some non-diegetic sound of screams, which is assumed as she killed the child.  We are targeting young male adults because they relate more and this creates an Enigma code because males viewers relate to the film because the hero is usually a man and they start feeling they were the hero.

Why are Thriller Films popular?  There is a hero and a villain  Usually has many jumpy scenes  It makes the audience concentrate and relate to the film  There is always a thrill without anyone ‘seeing it coming’  There is always a cliff hanger to make the audience feel concentrated and builds the tension making the audience feel scared  Crime related plots aren't usually used because they don’t really thrill the audience, but are usually murders and conspiracy plots.
  • 4. However… Although our film was aimed at young adult; that does not rule out that older people can’t watch it because we also aim it at audience who could be considered as regular film lovers and other people who just like to watch a thriller as one off like for a night.
