2. Different Technologies Used…
During the course of the “Indifference” project I used a lot of different technologies and learned how to
use different bits of hardware I haven’t used before. I had to learn how to do different camera shots and
use different bits of technology to enhance my skills and also teach me some new skills that I can use in
later life.
I had to use:
Panasonic HD Handy Cam
Cannon DSLR
Samsung Galaxy S Phone
Printer
IMac Desktop
MacBook Pro
Tripod
Hard Drives
Photo Shoot Studio
Lighting
3. Cameras…
0 Panasonic HD Handy Cam
0 Cannon DSLR
0 Samsung Galaxy S Phone
0 Tripod This year during the construction section of my project, I was working
with new camera recording equipment which was a real chance from
me working with DSLR cameras and I learned a lot more about the
different shots which were needed and how I can make them look and
feel professional by using a tripod, this was a whole new area of media
for me as I haven’t used a video camera like that before meaning I had
to be focused and listen to my partner matt about how to do the shots
correctly and effectively
But then I had to work with an area of technology that I am comfortable with
using DLSR Cameras for photography in a photoshoot studio, this allowed me
to use various angles and levels to explore different ways to take photos. In
both of these I use a tripod with I had little experience with the previous year
and learned how to set it up properly and how to use it efficiently.
4. During the research stages of the project I used my mobile phone
as a camera when I was interviewing people about what they expect
of a horror and trying to see what they wanted for a trailer and
poster etc. I found this very successful.
Computer Hardware…
0 IMac Desktop
0 MacBook Pro
I also spent a lot of my time working on the Macintosh system during this course because they are a more
powerful for editing with their high end processing speeds and graphics, more powerful than a windows computer.
I used the IMac Desktop for the beginning of the course and then I switched to using a MacBook which I invested in
to help with time management and how much work I could do in and outside of college.
I did very little work on my Samsung netbook so I haven’t included it in this, however I did use the windows 7 OS and
Microsoft office at home for paper work until I got my MacBook.
5. I actually had to learn a whole new skill set for the MacBook as even though it was similar to the Imac
I had to become comfortable with using it but because of the amount of time I had spent on an Imac
last year I adapted quickly. I was using the Mac system for precise editing and for the fast processing
of it.
External Computer Hardware …
0 Hard Drive
0 Printer
Along side the use of Macintosh systems I had to use other hardware's such as external hard drives and
printers to help me store data and print off paperwork and drafts of the products so I can analyse them
and see where I need to improve on them.
6. Different Software Used…
I had to use a lot of different software in this project to create my products and different aspects of reviewing, and
exploring different methods of creativity in making the final products.
I used…
Photoshop
Final Cut
Screenflow
FL Studio
Prezi
Photobooth
Blogger
7. Photoshop
Photoshop was a program I struggled with the year before and it was a program which I knew very basic info about
and I didn’t have much understanding of it, however I managed to incorporate what I had learned from last year into this
year, and the usage of Photoshop I pushed to be as professional as I could make it, making sure I knew what I was doing with
the tools, and effects and how I can use all the features to benefit my product.
Final Cut Express
I had used lots of different forms of video editing software before but I found it really strange using final cut, I didn’t know how
to do much on it, and how I should be using it, and because it was designed for the Mac and I was still not used to the system I
found it hard. I then came back to it and actually found that I really liked the program and within a few hours of messing around
with the software I found I liked to use it as much as the previous software I was using to edit videos and I though that this allowed
me to learn new skills and learn how to do new and different things.
Screenflow
This was a bit of software I picked up which I found very useful for stuff like recording what I was doing on screen or helping
with another way to edit videos. I used this software a lot help edit different videos and capture what I was doing for the media
work without the need to remember to take screenshots which I feel was more effective.
FL Studio
This bit of software I had very little experience with when I was younger and just used it to mess around it but when I was
working on the project I thought that perhaps this would be better than using garageband as I have some understanding of it,
I then asked for some help from a friend in to how to use it again and eventually I cam across making the actual music for the
trailer, I thought this was good because I had to really concentrate and focus on what I was doing as it is an extremely advanced
program which was hard to use.
8. Prezi
I used a lot of Prezi over the course of the project as I felt it gave the freedom to explore creativity whilst managing to
withhold a professional feel to it. I had to make sure that these convey the information well and informed an audience,
without making them feel confused or disorientated.
Photobooth
Other than using Screenflow to record myself and what was happening on my laptop I used another bit of recording software
called photobooth where I asked people for feedback on the trailer, poster and magazine cover.
Blogger
Blogger is one of the biggest and key parts of the software I used because it allowed me to represent my work very effectively
and acts like a huge media hub/database allowing you upload videos, pictures, prezi, powerpoints etc. and without it there
wouldn’t be anywhere to store the work created in such a unique and clever style.
