Question 3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
Our film is an independent ROM-COM, which has been highly influenced by American style films such as, ‘a Cinderella story’ starring Hillary Duff. Where it shows this idea of being in love with someone who you have never physically met. Having been influenced by the American ROM-COM’s it would seem more relevant to be distributed by American company's who can branch an independent film out the similarly audiences that other films have had success with.
IFTA is a global independent motion picture and television industry that voice and advocate for independent films world wide. They are foremost the worlds best independent production and distribution companies in film finance. For over 30 years IFTA have distributed and financed many of the worlds most prominent films, such as ‘THE KINGS SPEECH’, ‘SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE’ Collectively ,IFTA’s members produced more then 400 independent films and countless hours od television programmed, it has been recognized that $4 billion in sales revenue have been achieved annually. With a huge budget and a well-known status IFTA would be an ideal distributor for our film. .
These three films are represented by IFTA
Avatar Films is based in New York City, It is an independent film distribution company specializing in art-house films and documentaries. Avatar Films was founded in 1999 with the mission to bring films of a certain caliber and transcendence to a much deserved audience. They have a strong sense of belief in the ability of film to inspire and transform. They provide a hands-on approach towards marketing and distribution to ensure a successful reception of films in the marketplace. They offer innovative and flexible distribution deals that are results-oriented and filmmaker-friendly. This distributor would fit well with our opening film as it would use its efforts to increase popularity.
IndiePix is an internet based film distribution company that emphasizes the use of contemporary web technology to make the work of qualified independent filmmakers more readily available to film fans. Their primary focus is on independently produced fiction and non-fiction feature-length motion pictures. Their catalog currently contains 3200+ titles, and IndiePix signs on average 12 new films each month. Among filmmakers, they are noteworthy for returning 50% of sales revenue directly to the filmmaker; for making current sales information available in a secure, on-line site; and for making submission information available directly on their website. With so much motivation and such a busy schedule indiepix seem to be confident helping independent films find a footing in this industry.
CONNECT As an independent film it would be targeted to a smaller audience that would be particularly interested in ROM-COMS. It is also a young cast of character so in order to reach its highest potential it would need a distributer with the appropriate Contacts. Any independent film distributor would be good association with our film.
