QUESTION 2
Costume
I did research into existing female pop
artists to look at the use of costume. I found
that their costumes where very fashionable
and in trend and therefore I replicated this
on my own artist. I found costumes for my
artist that my target social group would
easily be able to copy as similar clothing
items can be found it high-street stores for a
reasonable price that my audience would be
able to afford. This attracts my target
audience as they can gain inspiration from
the outfits that my model is wearing and
can try and get the same look themselves.
Photography
I did research into existing pop music
magazines in order to look at what sort of
camera angles they use to present the
artist to the targeted social group. I found
that these mainly consisted of medium
close ups and long shots to show both the
artist up close and then long shots to
show the artists outfit. I tried to replicate
these angles in my own product. I also
took inspiration from different poses that
I found in existing pop music magazines.
Location
In terms of location from
researching existing pop music
magazines I found that most
images have a plain
background and therefore I did
the same by cropping my
image and putting it onto a
plain pink background which
matched the colour scheme for
my music magazine
Both the existing music magazine and my music magazine have plain
backgrounds.
Hair and makeup
For hair and make up I took inspiration
off Dua Lipa as she always has a glam
make up look however it still looks very
natural and appealing. I believe that this
would be easy for my target social group
to achieve on themselves as the make up
products used were not too expensive
and it is quite a basic, easily achievable
make up look. I believe this make up look
matches well with the theme of my
magazine.
