Here I am using a sliding scale to show how my target social group is
represented in media

4. The true R&B genre of music usually involves music
about making and losing love and romance, it also has
a soul feeling to the music. Contrasting to mainstream
R&B music and the depiction of R&B given by the
media which is very materialistic and only focuses on
negativity. My magazine represents a more deeper and
authentic view of R&B music and goes deeper into to
the roots of its history, which contradicts the way the
media represent it to be like hugely.

5. Evaluating Representation
Here I am using a sliding scale to evaluate how I would like my magazine to be

6. The representation of R&B in the media is more
fantastic than authentic and focuses on surreal
things such as money, “bling” and half naked
women rather than realistic things like
careers, history of R&B. I feel that R&B has
become more commercialised so it can be more
accepted in society and to attract a wider
audience however I would prefer my magazine
to be more offensive and controversial and not
fall into that mainstream image of R&B.
