Conventions
We have matched our genre to the social group we
were focusing on by using different kind of sounds and
mise en scene to create a story that could be happening
to them because they will do the same.
Narrative
The main particular that links the narrative with the
genre horror is that the group of boys are hunted by
this killer clown and that the tension builds up and
their emotions will play a scene in this as well.
Genre
Some of the main things the opening scene is linked to
the genre horror is that when the boys are walking
together over the school fields that the real life articles
are presented and that the target audience are doing
the same thing as what is presented in the boys
characters and that it maybe could happen in real life.
Mise en scene
I used the mise en scene by using for the killer dark
clothes and a creepy clown mask as clowns are many
people’s fear and the dark clothes present death. The
boys are wearing normal outgoing clothes so that the
situation looks more real than it is.
Camera Work
We used all kind of different angles and shots in order
to show the most attention to the actions of the boys
and what is going on in their minds. For example what
the boys were thinking when they walked into the
house
Sound
The soundtracks we used are eerie melodies in a
rhythm that is playing over and over again. This links to
the genre horror as it is not a really nice melody and it
create tension with the audience that focus more on the
things what is shown but not on what happens in the
background. We also used sound effects to build up
more tension as for example the sound of the door
opening.
Editing
With the editing we used the normal speed but we
edited newspaper articles of real life stories that
happened that also the story explains of what there is
going to happen and what the evil is in the movie.
Social Groups
We have represented teenager as outgoing and naïve
persons as they still go into the house when even they
know that there is no party there and they want to
explore the house instead of turning directly around
and leave.
