WHAT I USED TO PRESENT MY DOCUMENTARY AND
TEXTS
• To post my documentary, I used Blogger.
WHAT ARE THE GENRE CONVENTIONS? (COMPARE TO
EXISTING TEXTS)
• The genre of our video was comedy and one of the documentaries that inspired us was Bowling for
Columbine. Even though this was a crime documentary with one presenter, we liked the way the
documentary used humour to make its points the way the presenter had energy through out. This was
what we were trying to imitate in our documentary.
HOW HAVE YOU CONFORMED (FOLLOWED) TO THE
FORMS AND CONVENTIONS?
• Documentary: Even though most documentaries such as Bowling for Columbine, Supersize me and the
truth about sugar all have one presenter that usually uses humour at times to get the audience
intrigued, we challenged these codes and conventions by using two presenters in our documentary so
that we do not lose our spectator’s attention. Also the audience would love to have different opinions
or views meaning more information for them, and more entertainment.
DID YOU MAKE A CONSCIOUS DECISION
• I did make a conscious decision as me and my group had planned how we would make our
documentary, how our presenter would act and what kind of experts we would use.
RADIO ADVERT
I used audio clips I
found online
I used automation for
fading the volume in and
out
I used the scissors tool (cmd-T)
to cut audio and this allowed
me to duplicate the audio
I was able to
copy and paste
clips around
HOW WE FOLLOWED CODES AND CONVENTIONS OF
RADIO ADVERTS
• We used our own music that I produced.
• The narrators speak directly to the audience.
• The two narrators try and persuade the audience through their tone of voice and language.
• We used a audio clip from our documentary.
• The background music and the language of the narrators is upbeat which gets our target audience
intrigued.
• The radio advert that we compared ours to was the “Non-sense” advert that would show up on channel
4. This advert was similar to ours as it contained upbeat music, sound effects and the tone of voice of
the narrator was quite persuasive to the audience.
