How Innovation Could Apply to Customer Insights for Better Decision Making?Frédéric Baffou
This presentation supported a talk at the Strategic Marketing & Branding Conference (Thought Leader Global) in Amsterdam in October 2017.
It covers an innovative methodology and approach to help decision making process related to new product development. It is based on 2 pillars:
- Gather customer insights based on use cases market research (i.e user’s perspective)
- Interact dynamically with results through a data science application
Validity in Psychological Testing refers to the test measure what it claims to measure. The presentation discusses categories in validating procedures such as construct identification, criterion prediction and content description in psychological testing.
Methodology of thesis 'research barriers in the implementation of reverse log...Irfan iftekhar
These are the barriers in the implementation of reverse logistics due to lack of interest and knowledge of top decision makers of the organizations. Besides when an entity's organizational capabilities are strong, it can progress smoothly, but when they are weak it can find it difficult to get the job done, making errors due to underestimating the problems. An organization's capability is its ability which can win over the barriers in the implementation of RL practices. This consists of the strategy of a company, its strategic plans, its commitment, employees' hiring and skills development, a working system of performance appraisal and supporting programs.
How to evaulate the unusualness (base rate) of WJ IV cluster or test score di...Kevin McGrew
The WJ IV provides two primary methods for comparing tests or cluster scores. One is based on a predictive model (the variation and comparison procedures) and the other allows comparisons of SEM confidence bands, which takes into account each measures reliability. A third method for comparing scores, one that takes into account the correlation between compared measures (ability cohesion model) is not provided, but is frequently used by assessment professionals. The three types of score comparison methods are described and new information, via a "rule of thumb" summary slide and nomograph, are provided to allow WJ IV users to evaluate scores via all three methods.
This study addresses two methods commonly used to measure overconfidence and examines their reliability. It is shown that traditional methods of assessing subjective certainty concerning a given forecast can contribute to a systematic overestimation of overconfidence. It also becomes apparent that a common approach measuring relative overconfidence can cause a distortion of scientific results. This is particularly valid for study groups in which female and male participants are not equally represented.
USING NLP APPROACH FOR ANALYZING CUSTOMER REVIEWScsandit
The Web considers one of the main sources of customer opinions and reviews which they are represented in two formats; structured data (numeric ratings) and unstructured data (textual comments). Millions of textual comments about goods and services are posted on the web by customers and every day thousands are added, make it a big challenge to read and understand them to make them a useful structured data for customers and decision makers. Sentiment
analysis or Opinion mining is a popular technique for summarizing and analyzing those opinions and reviews. In this paper, we use natural language processing techniques to generate some rules to help us understand customer opinions and reviews (textual comments) written in the Arabic language for the purpose of understanding each one of them and then convert them to a structured data. We use adjectives as a key point to highlight important information in the text then we work around them to tag attributes that describe the subject of the reviews, and we associate them with their values (adjectives).

Discuss the following:
· Population and size
· The target population and brief reasoning
· Sampling element which may be conducted through any of the following:
· Data mining
· Survey (If a survey is chosen, create a 5-10 question document), or
· Observation
· The sample size
· Method of random sampling which may include:
5. Simple
5. Stratified
5. Systematic
5. Cluster
Calculate the sample size for the mean or sample or sample size for the proportion, using a 95% confidence level, estimated population standard deviation or estimate of the true population proportion, and a 5% margin of error. Place the calculation in the Appendix.
Discuss how validity and reliability will be achieved.
If applicable, explain how human subjects will be protected.
Part 2: Data Collection
Explain how the data will be physically collected.
Explain where data will be stored and how it will be protected.
Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.

Methodology
The research team conducted the study through an iterative research process that first clarified the research question and developed the hypothesis statements. The research design was then established by outlining the data collection and sample design. Data collection, preparation, analysis, and interpretation were then conducted.
Sample
The total population being tested was all Stop-N-Shop customers; however, the target population were those men and women making hot food purchases. To address the objectives of the study, as stratified random sample of men and women that made hot food purchases was collected; customers who were not making hot food purchases were excluded, as they did not meet the criteria for the research. The study data was collected by observing customers as they completed their purchases of hot food items; the total sale in dollars and the sex of the customer were recorded.
In order to calculate the proper sample size, a pilot study was conducted over a 30-day period. The pilot study results were used to estimate the sample size based on a parameter estimate of the population mean(McClave, Benson, & Sincich, 2011, pp. 297-299). The details of the calculation are presented in Appendix A. The results indicated that a minimum sample size of ...

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
