A recent report in the Wall Street Journal points out that while the internet played a big role in the Arab Spring, inspiring a whole new generation of activists, it is now helping an increasing number of people to meet their financial aspirations in the Arab countries. The report discusses how e-commerce has become an important driver of the new economy in Egypt, with companies like QNET expanding into the region due to the growth of e-commerce. Welcome to the State of Payments 2016 by PAYFORT. For the third year in a row we’re releasing our annual report that details the world of payments, eCommerce and innovation across the Arab World.
We’ve collected data from both consumers and merchants to provide you with actionable insight you can use to create a more successful, profitable and consumer focused business.
Two years ago we released our first State of Payments report, something that evolved out of a desire to increase our own understanding of consumers in the region and share that information with the growing business community throughout the Arab World.
In last year’s report, we strive to create something that not only contained the same consumer-centric data but also presented that data in a meaningful way. We wanted to create a fuller picture that incorporated the opinions of hundreds of merchants who interact with consumers on a day-to-day basis.
In this year’s report we’ve once again re-imagined how best to share the massive amount of data that is available within the Middle East’s eCommerce sectors. To do this we have refocused the report to not only explore current trends, but also address the real issues that impact merchants on a day to day basis and share meaningful solutions for the future.
Over the past three years State of Payments has become our favourite content piece and we’d love to hear your thoughts on the report. Be sure to reach out via social media using the hashtag #StateofPayments or contact us via social@payfort.com to share your thoughts. We have also provided a feedback section within the report where you can share your thoughts.

Global trends ten key trends to watch for 2015Tracey Keys
It’s been a turbulent year, with geopolitical crises dominating world headlines. Rising nationalism and separatism has created power vacuums in the developed world; power plays in Ukraine, the Middle East and the South China Sea have threatened broader conflicts while the possibility of a new era of religious crusades is daunting. The issue for the year ahead is whether global leaders will step up to collaborate on real, lasting solutions.
Other major factors that will shape the world in 2015 are the sluggish global economy – hardly news at this stage, but still relevant – crashing oil prices, and climate change’s return to the agenda. Technology has its part to play, of course, and there are plenty of exciting developments on the horizon, although in the past twelve months it has been security breaches and cyber-criminals’ apparent ability to hack every aspect of the connected world.
Against this backdrop we see 10 key trends to watch in the next year.

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

5. E-Commerce an important driver of the new economy in Egypt
A recent report in the Wall Street Journal points out that while the internet played a big role in the Arab
Spring, inspiring a whole new generation of activists, it is now helping an increasing number of people to
meet their financial aspirations in the Arab countries.
With the rise of smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices that have become an integral part of our
lifestyle, making it convenient to do everything from book tickets to ordering food online, e-commerce has
become a game changer in an economy struggling to get back on its feet. Many young entrepreneurs are
turning to the Internet to fuel their business. The success of online start ups such as agzakhana.com, an
online shopping network for pharmaceutical products and elmenus.com – an online database of local
restaurants which has thousands of users signing up each month to order food from over 1,200 restaurants,
shows that political uncertainty is not slowing down at least one segment of the economy – eCommerce.
Mr. Haldun ARIN- Chief Operating Officer for QNET-one of Asia’s leading direct selling companies that uses ecommerce at its core, attributes the company’s successful expansion into the MENA region to the power of
e-commerce. Arinexplained that while Direct Selling as an industry in its modern form has been around for
more than 50 years, the global connectivity provided by the Internet changed the industry drastically. QNet
was one of the early adopters of e-commerce in the direct selling industry in Asia, which helped the
company reach out to customers all over the world. This helped the company expand its presence outside
Asia, particularly in the MENA region in a relatively short span of time.
While e-commerce in post-revolution Egypt is picking up with hundreds of new startups in the past few
years, industry observers warn of hurdles such as a relatively low internet penetration and security while
shopping online. The potential however is huge.
that there is a tremendous business-to-business potential for e-commerce in the country.
6. Mr. Haldun says, “We have invested significantly in providing a secure platform for our customers to ensure
their online shopping experience with us is safe and enjoyable. We have COMODO Hackerproof Security
Accreditation and use a Cloud-based Data Center with 3 Tier Multi LayerSecurity.Additionally, we have also
secured DDOS protection to combat any attacks on our e-commerce portal efficiently without affecting our
customer experience.”
QNet’s customers purchase a wide range of high value products and services ranging from wellness and
nutrition products to online education courses, watches and jewelleryto holidays and vacation memberships
from QNet’seCommerce portal from around the world. The company names Egypt as one of its top 5
markets.
According to research by PayPal, the popular online payment solutions company that launched its operations
in the region late last year, spending online in the MENA region will grow from USD 9 billion in 2012 to USD
15 billion by 2015.
In a study published by Visa, the global financial services company recently, Egypt ranks as No.1 in the entire
MENA region in e-sales with USD 3.2 billion worth transactions in 2011. Egypt currently has an internet
penetration rate of over 35% and this is expected to grow by 40% annually, the Visa study showed. With
actual computer penetration being higher in the business community, the study
suggests

30. 2- QNET chooses Egypt’s Ghada Hamdan as regional ambassador for skincare
range
31. QNET chooses Egypt’s Ghada Hamdan as regional ambassador for skincare range
Ghada Hamdan is not an actress, or singer, or any kind of celebrity. The majority of the public may not know
her name, but in the direct selling industry, she is considered a star. One of the most successful women in
the industry in the MENA region, QNET is proud to introduce Egypt’s Ghada Hamdan as the Regional
Ambassador (MENA) for skin care and beauty products.
Ghada was a marketing executive in a multinational company in Dubai just a few years ago, struggling to
make ends meet. She was a single mother fighting to give her daughter the best life she could. She took
more than one job just to pay her bills. She was miserable working in her corporate, nine-to-five job and on
her 32nd birthday promised herself that by her next birthday, she would be running her own business.
A chance encounter led her to buy a jewelry product from QNET following which she decided to take up a
business opportunity to promote more products from QNET. That was four years ago. Today, she leads her
own team, Diamonds and is one of QNET’s top female distributors, known as Independent Representatives
(IRs) in the Middle East and North Africa region.
When asked how she did this in just four years, she replied "I fell in love with QNET and worked at it
consistently, everyday. I burned all the ties holding me back and put them behind me." It was because of her
determination and courage to never give up, she is now at the top of her game, helping others like her to
break down their financial barriers. She did all this while also managing to look good and feel good with
gorgeous skin.
The Physio Radiance skincare range was one of the first products of QNET that she tried. Like many people,
Ghada was also wary of the visible effects of ageing and was worried about subjecting her skin to harsh
chemicals. She tried the Physio Radiance range, which includes a cleanser, toner, serum and moisturizer.
Within days, the effects were visible with her skin feeling soft and supple and a reduction in fine lines.
"I loved the light, silky texture and how easily my skin absorbed it. There was no fragrance, which I have read
is the result of various chemicals in the formulation. Everything in the Physio Radiance range felt so natural,
like it was a part of me", says Ghada.
32. There are two important aspects that differentiate Physio Radiance from the many other skincare products
in the market. Developed exclusively for QNET by Laboratories Schwartz in Paris (France), Physio Radiance
uses a patented microencapsulation technology. This is a process of putting a microscopic wall around a core
substance that turns them into small capsules in concentrated form giving them many useful properties. This
allows Physio Radiance products to give the skin cells all it needs to stimulate natural regeneration of the
skin instead of subjecting it to invasive substances. Secondly, the products are completely natural,
hypoallergenic and contain no parabens or preservatives.
The most effective active ingredient of Physio Radiance is negative hydrogen (H-), which is known as the
smallest antioxidant in the universe, thus effective for skin penetration to a cellular level. The other critical
ingredient in this product range is the brown algae fucoïdan found in Okinawa Island in Japan. These are rich
in nutrients and possess healing properties that protects against infection and free radicals.
Ghada advocates the Physio Radiance range to both men and women in her team, as the product is suitable
for all skin types.
“I am very careful about what I recommend to people. I have a certain position of responsibility as many
people look up to me and I need to be 100% sure of something before I can advocate it to others. I cannot
sell a product if I don’t believe in it!”
“I have used and seen the effects of QNET’s products and have seen the company’s attention to detail and
adherence to the highest standards. I consider it an honour to be an ambassador for the skincare products
because I believe in it very strongly”, explains Ghada.
For QNET, Ghada is a perfect embodiment of its philosophy of RYTHM – Raise Yourself To Help Mankind, a
concept which is about empowering people, who can then in turn make a difference in others lives. Ghada
Hamdan has proven in barely half a decade that with determination, focus and perseverance, anyone can
turn his or her life around.
