Why limit yourself to just one GIS program? It's good to have options. This workshop will introduce QGIS, a powerful free and open source GIS software, and teach basic skills in QGIS. In the first half of the session, we will work through the training materials available from QGIS.org and in the second half, we will divide into groups for learning new skills in more depth, such as web mapping, spatial databases, or plug-in development. A laptop computer is required for this session and we recommend you install QGIS 2.6 before hand.
