BUNKING LECTURES
PARETO DIAGRAM
“Put your efforts where they will make most
difference”
 It is one of the seven basic tools of quality
control.
 It is diagram that comprises of a series of
bars arranged in descending order of height,
from left to right and a line graph.
 The length of the bars represents the
frequency.
 Pareto diagram are used to analyze a
problem and gives a easy way out for
analyzing which problem needs attention
PARETO PRINCIPLE
“Don’t just ‘WORK SMART’, work smart on
the right things”
 It is also known as the 80-20 rule.
 It states that in any set of things few
(20%) are vital and rest (80%) are trivial
or of little significance.
 As shown in the figure, the principle
reminds us to focus on the 20% that
matters i.e.20% has more weightage than
80%.

Bunking of lectures has become a major problem nowadays.
According to the survey done
The data is categorized under the following reasons:-
 Fun with friends
 Not well
 Sleeping late at night
 Attending coaching classes
 Insanely boring lectures
 Cultural/sports events

 Self study
 Going out on a vacation

 From the above pareto chart, it is clearly visible that the major(vital-
20%) reasons of student bunking classes are-
 Sleeping late at night
 Insanely boring lectures
 And the remaining reasons account for the rest 80%(trivial/ignorable)
.

 Watching movies and serials and other
recreational activities
 Late night chatting with friends.
 Stack of assignments and maintenance of
practical records.
 Late night birthday celebrations and
parties.

 Better time management
 Maintaining self discipline

 Inefficient faculty
 Lack of interactive classrooms
 Lack of interest in the subject
 Less understanding in classes due to weak
basics

 Interactive and smart classes
 Regular self study by students
CONCLUSION
 Pareto chart is an effective and easy tool in finding the areas of big
problem.
 It breaks the problem into several parts and then finds the most
problematic area.
 Shows the path for finding the exact root causes
 Helps in improving decision making.

  • 2. PARETO DIAGRAM “Put your efforts where they will make most difference”  It is one of the seven basic tools of quality control.  It is diagram that comprises of a series of bars arranged in descending order of height, from left to right and a line graph.  The length of the bars represents the frequency.  Pareto diagram are used to analyze a problem and gives a easy way out for analyzing which problem needs attention
  • 3. PARETO PRINCIPLE “Don’t just ‘WORK SMART’, work smart on the right things”  It is also known as the 80-20 rule.  It states that in any set of things few (20%) are vital and rest (80%) are trivial or of little significance.  As shown in the figure, the principle reminds us to focus on the 20% that matters i.e.20% has more weightage than 80%.
  • 4. PARETO CHART - REASONS FOR BUNKING LECTURES Bunking of lectures has become a major problem nowadays. According to the survey done The data is categorized under the following reasons:-  Fun with friends  Not well  Sleeping late at night  Attending coaching classes  Insanely boring lectures  Cultural/sports events approaching  Self study  Going out on a vacation

  • 10. CONTD.  From the above pareto chart, it is clearly visible that the major(vital- 20%) reasons of student bunking classes are-  Sleeping late at night  Insanely boring lectures  And the remaining reasons account for the rest 80%(trivial/ignorable) .
  • 11. SLEEPING LATE AT NIGHT CAUSES  Watching movies and serials and other recreational activities  Late night chatting with friends.  Stack of assignments and maintenance of practical records.  Late night birthday celebrations and parties. SOLUTIONS  Better time management  Maintaining self discipline
  • 12. Insanely boring lectures CAUSES  Inefficient faculty  Lack of interactive classrooms  Lack of interest in the subject  Less understanding in classes due to weak basics SOLUTIONS  Interactive and smart classes  Regular self study by students
  • 13. CONCLUSION  Pareto chart is an effective and easy tool in finding the areas of big problem.  It breaks the problem into several parts and then finds the most problematic area.  Shows the path for finding the exact root causes  Helps in improving decision making.
