6. Training Pathway
The QA Consulting’s Graduate Programme is
designed to give our Consultants technical and
professional expertise, and industry experience
on site with one of our clients.
Our Consultants will be trained in The QA
Academy where they will be taught market-

DevOps aims to break the silos that isolate people in different roles and create

Middleware & Integration
Middleware and Integration helps you break the silos that exist in your organisations

Our offices have great social areas to help you unwind

Career Progression
QA Consulting has many different
avenues that our Consultants
can go down as they progress
through their career with us. Our
Consultants gain valuable hands on
industry experience in specialised
technologies by working with a
number of our high-profile clients,
whilst gaining industry accredited
certifications.
I finished at the QA Graduate Programme in
September 2011 where I completed a fast track course
on MVC3, .NET and Object Orientated Programming.
I was deployed straight onto client site where I joined
a blended team of developers at VOA and had the
opportunity to work with the latest development tools.
Once this project ended I worked as part of a team
on an internal project called NBFinance delivering the
design of new screens according to mock-ups using
EXTJS version 4.0 JavaScript and JQuery.
I now work as a .NET Consultant at Linklater’s. I
have been involved in three different projects all of
them based on ASP, .NET, C# and BV.NET. I am also
pleased to be supporting junior .NET Consultants in
helping them improve their skills.

My training began in Enterprise Architecture and Java,
then progressed onto BPM and SOA. This enabled
me to train further in PEGA PRPC and at the end of
my training I passed an external exam to become
certified as a PEGA CSA. I found myself capable of
delivering high quality problem solving solutions in
Object Orientated Programming concepts.
Since leaving the Academy I joined Capgemini
working onsite at Telford on PEGA projects for a large
government department and a world class airport. I
have some time working as a PEGA tester and then as
a PEGA Developer.
I started at The QA Academy about a month after I
had my assessment day. We covered Consultancy
Skills then moved onto programming, specifically
Java, then finally onto a high demand technology for
our placement.
I got placed straight away at HMRC developing
countries Tax Systems. The technology I was trained
in is called PEGA, a Business Process Management
tool using OOP concepts and built on Java. The
consultancy part of the curriculum has been vital in
understanding the structure of such huge projects,
along with Java preparing me for the more nitty gritty
coding parts.
One of the things I love about my placement is
the fact I get to work on such prestigious projects,
surrounded by professionals who I can learn from
every day.

Manchester itself is the fastest growing city outside

QA Consulting hold an annual conference abroad, this brings
together the consultants whose day to day work is at one of
our client sites.
The conference gives everyone a chance to get to know
our senior leadership team and be inspired by their
presentations. The event takes places over a long weekend
and will include a Key Note speech from Managing Director
followed by Breakout Sessions on our technologies and
business.
On the Saturday night everyone will go for dinner, drinks and
entertainment. Sunday will be a free day for you to explore
the local attractions before flying home.

Apart from having a keen interest in computer
programming and software development all candidates
must meet the following criteria:

The Telephone Interview
Our recruitment team will contact candidates that meet our criteria to
conduct a telephone interview. The interview will consist of competency-
based questions about your interests and a future career with QA
Consulting.
Assessment Day
Successful candidates will be invited to attend an Assessment Day at
our Academy. The day is designed to measure the skills and behaviours
required of you in order to be successful as a QA Consulting employee.
The day will consist of a number of interactive group tasks, presentations
and interviews.
The Day will also give you the opportunity to visit our training facilities
and have a better understanding of our working environment and what
we do as a company.
Successful candidates at the Assessment Day stage will be offered a
position with QA Consulting.
