DELIVERY ARCHITECTURE TRAINING
In collaboration with yourselves, we work to
deliver software in stages, giving our clients
the chance to see what is being built at the
earliest opportunity and allowing them to
shape their product at every turn. We like to
give our clients the flexibility to be involved
as little or as much as they like each step of
the way.
We work with our clients to understand their
project and organisational needs to design
robust, scalable systems that are not only fit
for purpose but also cost-effective and capable
of supporting an unknown future.
Client demand has led to our offering of
mentoring and training courses aimed at
sharing our knowledge and skills with in-
house development teams, ensuring that
with or without us, they can perform
effectively.
Who we are:
Why we formed:
What we offer:
Codera is a quality-driven software development house. Our consultants
have had a hand in delivering some of the world’s most heavily used IT systems,
from in-house enterprise applications to global trading platforms. We have worked
with SMEs right through to worldwide conglomerates, our software development
experience spans healthcare, foreign exchange, gaming, finance and startups.
Codera was formed by a group of experienced software professionals
who had been developing enterprise systems for over 15 years. They were
brought together by a shared passion for development and a common
frustration with well-intentioned but badly-implemented practices in
the industry. Their goal was to create an environment free of such
frustration, in which high-quality software could be delivered quickly
in a controlled, well-tested and predictable manner.
It sounds cliché but we love the jobs you hate, whether it’s creating
something complex from the ground up or taking a business critical legacy
system and enabling it to be modified or replaced in a risk free, predictable
and testable manner, we have a proven track record in both. We don’t just
deliver though, we also teach teams to deliver and design architecture that is
up to the challenge you define.
What we provide:
INSIDE CODERA
Working with Us: Working for Us:
What makes us different:
What does Pragmatic Delivery mean to us?
We are wary of any one size fits all methodology, technology, framework, solution… Instead we have what we believe is an
innovative approach to development that we call “Pragmatic Delivery”. It doesn’t depend on a fixed set of rules or delivery
methods. Rather it enables us to work around our client, taking on board what works for them and their specific circum-
stances, to ensure we optimise the delivery process to suit, and generate profit as soon as possible. It empowers our teams
to achieve what they need, when they need it and embraces the inevitability of change without compromising on quality.
When we set up Codera as a software delivery house we made a conscious (yet slightly controversial!) decision that we
weren't interested in selling oursevles as an agile consultancy. What we wanted to focus on and are passionate about, is
quality and timely delivery for the customer. This is the core of Pragmatic Delivery. In the creation of a delivery team to
solve a customer’s specific problem, there are certain things we do to give us the best chance to deliver and secure the
satisfaction of our customer.
At a high level this includes:
- Building teams with cross skilled individuals, endeavoring to
ensure no single points of failure.
- Team empowerment to take technical ownership of the solution.
- No negotiation on quality (TDD, 90% test coverage, Zero Sonar
violation etc.).
- Full understanding of the world the application will be deployed
into.
If you are interested to learn more regarding our
Pragmatic Delivery approach, contact us, we’ll be more
than happy to discuss.
- Designing for the specific architectural problems envisaged in
next release, but allow for the potential problems likely to be
experienced in the future, and architect in a way that makes
those problems as easy to solve as possible.
- We do not over engineer solutions to solve problems that
may never happen.
- Application of good software engineering principles to keep
design and implementation simple - the most important metric
for code is "is it maintainable?"
- As the world changes, we continue to refactor code to reflect
the evolving domain, we’re not constrained by what we (or the
business) guessed it would be at the outset.
What our clients say about us:
“Over recent years there has been a significant amount of growth in the IT team at Hitachi Capital.
Much of this success can be credited to Codera who have played a key role by setting the bar high
around software craftsmanship practices. The talented people that work for Codera are second to
none and look to lead by example. Adding quality people from Codera has meant a new focus upon
excellent engineering principles and practices, and opportunities to challenge the norm. Codera have
also helped Hitachi Capital attract top talent to the team by introducing a robust Candidate
assessment program during the screening and interview process.”
Glenn Crossley (Head of IT Delivery, Hitachi Capital (UK) PLC)
“We have enjoyed a strong partnership with Codera. Their team have provided technical leadership
across our client development teams, led various successful projects and promoted industry standard
techniques that have raised the quality of delivery for our clients. As a company, we wouldn’t hesitate
to put Codera forward as a development firm that can be depended upon to deliver to a high standard
of quality in partnership with a client’s own development capability.”
Gav Winter (Managing Director, Ten10 Group)
We provide each client with an account manager responsible
for ensuring they are happy and that any issues raised, are
addressed in an effective and timely manner. We aim to build
a team that is based upon respect and shared values, and then
gain the trust of the client through full disclosure of progress
via the medium of regular show and tells. This allows our
clients to have as much control of the end product as they
desire. We strive to be transparent and open at all times. A
happy client is a Codera client in our view.
At Codera we pride ourselves on our work ethic and the gifted
skills of our employees, after all we are only ever as good as our
people. We employ talented individuals and reward them with a
relaxed, fruitful working environment. One in which they have
the flexibility to flourish and enjoy what they do. We promote
flexible working patterns and dress code. We empower staff to
make decisions and trust them to deliver. Appropriate training
and mentoring is readily accessible with periodic reviews to not
only assess performance but keep abreast of any issues. We
actively encourage our employees to help shape the culture of
the company and ensure it is a place that people want to work.
