from your audience feedback?
2. To gain a good understanding of
the response to my media
products from the audiences
perspective, I used various
methods to gather feedback of
their opinions and views. The
first method I used was a
straight forward questionnaire
which included 9 questions.
They gathered information such
as age, gender, description of
the artists brand image, rating
out of 10 and favourite parts of
the music video.

is predominantly young females, I
wanted to gather feedback from a
male perspective as well as under 15
opinions from a range of ages. To
ensure this I used 7 males and 7 0 0.5 1 1.5 2 2.5 3 3.5 4 4.5
females who were all of different
age groups to complete my
questionnaire. Through this I knew
I would be able to see if I had not
only reached my target audience
but I would also be able to
understand whether my theme
and narrative was widely available
to people of all ages and genders.

older audience however
suggested to me through their
feedback that they do not watch
music channels, this shows the
importance of the poster advert
as it would be able to reach the
wider audience through other
products such as
billboards/magazines etc.
5. Although a small percentage of the Preffered genre
people recorded they listen to
country/folk, a high percentage were
able to distinctly identify the genre in
question 4. This could suggest that Pop
either this particular genre has Country/Folk
different characteristics to others RnB
therefore making it easily identifiable Hip Hop
or that my particular audience are Indie
versatile in the types of music they Other
listen to.
The audience feedback from this
question suggests that my music What genre is my music video
video is clearly of a country/folk
nature. Although a small minority
suggested „Other‟ or „Pop‟, it is clear
that the audience are strongly Pop
influenced towards the genre of Country/Folk
country/folk. It was important to ask RnB
this question to ensure that I fulfilled Hip Hop
the task of reaching the target Indie
audience with the intended genre. Other
6. Brand Image I asked people to describe and
give their opinions on my artists
brand image, I felt this was one
of the most important parts of
audience feedback
evaluation, so I wanted to
ensure I was able to gather
feedback on not only the music
video but all of my ancillary
texts. To do this I produced an
A3 sheet with my poster and
digipak on, I then asked each
individual to write something in
accordance to their feelings of
her brand image. Some said
she was „organic and an
„environmentalist‟ others said
she seemed „soulful‟
„sweet, innocent & young‟ and
„in tune with nature‟. This was
excellent feedback as it told me
the brand identity I was
intending on portraying was
enforced as necessary.
7. Favourite part of the video
Through my audience feedback I felt like I needed to find out
where the audience felt the strengths of my music video were. To
gather this information I asked them what their favourite part of
the video was. One particular person wrote “the transitions
between the girl leaving and being in Vegas” Another wrote “my
favourite part of the video was when the girl was looking out to
see the view and the boy appeared as the light began shining, I
think it looked really good” finally, another person gave their
opinion saying “it would probably be as the camera is moving
along, the boy appears in the sky, it gives off the idea that the girl
is really missing him”. I know understand the importance of
getting feedback from this question, it enabled me to make a
clear judgement of not only the best parts of the music video, but
also told me that the narrative was clear enough for people to
focus on.
8. Understanding of the narrative from
the video
To get a clear understanding and make a good judgement as to whether the
narrative was clear and visible enough to the audience I asked them „what do
you understand from the narrative of the music video‟. The feedback I received
showed me that the narrative was visible as I intended it to be and that the
audience understood it well. One person said “the girl and boy miss each other
as they‟re separated but still have contact”, whilst another said “the girls gone
away, so she‟s away from her boyfriend, and although she‟s having a good time
she clearly misses him, it‟s shown through those shots of her holding the photo
of them both and when she sees him in the sky” This was my favourite question
of all as it allowed me to tell if the main focus point of my video, (which was
trying to get across the narrative well) worked. I was extremely happy by the
later comment, this is because it told me not only what this person thought the
narrative was about, but also gave me examples on how I had managed to
ensure the narrative followed through, through the video.

a rating of 5, If I was to re-do
my evaluation I would ensure I
added a section for extra
comments to discuss why they
gave the rating they did, this
would help me analyse what I
could do better in the future.
