Question 2
Cover Image Representation
Cover Image:
For my cover image I decided to use Pat Walters to
portray himself on the cover of the magazine. I have
tried to present him in a rather sinister way. I have
portrayed Pat as a low class, white, heterosexual,
teenage male. One way that I have tried to show that
he's low class but in a sinister way, is through the use
of the north face fleece. As north face would be worn by
low class teenage males and the colour of black has
connotations to dark and sinister.
Pats hair is shown to be messy and not kept, this
portrays the personality of the cover star and the theme
of the magazines cover. Pats face also represents the
sinister theme around the magazine as he looks slightly
angry. The pose that I made the cover star do, could
make the audience feel slightly sympathetic towards
him, as he's holding a lighter close to his hand witch
has links to self harm. Something a small percentage of
the audience could relate to. The quote under the
picture, The Real Walters, entices the audience to read
on as they feel like it’s a side of him that they have
never seen before. I decided to use the layout of the
magazine to influence the audiences perspective of the
cover star. I've done this by placing him in front of the
masthead to show that he's more important than the
name of the magazine. I've added a black and white

DJ West Representation:
In this image DJ West has been represented
outside smoking. This shows the audience
that he's just as normal as the reader witch
allows them to better relate with him. He's
portrayed as a middle class, white,
heterosexual, male, teenager. I made the
model wear a white baseball cap and a
Black North face jacket which adds to the
effect that DJ West is as normal as the
audience as this photo could have been
taken when he was walking to the shops for
a bag of crisps. His Pose represents the way
I have tried to portray him as he has one
hand in his pocket and he's not looking at
the camera this shows that he doesn't feel
like he's famous, giving the audience a new
found respect for him. This contrasts
however with the smoke coming out of his
mouth as it may disprove him as being a role
model. Some of the language that I have
promotes the artist in a positive way. For
example Sensational Beats this makes the
audience want to read the Article.

Dan Riddick Representation
Dan I presented as looking away from the
camera which portrays his arrogance. The
stern look on his face shows he's a very
serious person witch relates to his article
and style of music.
Article Image Representation
In this image the model Dan
Riddick is portrayed as a middle
class, white, heterosexual, male,
teenager. This creates the effect
to the audience that they can
relate to him, as my target
audience is male teens. I chose
to have him wear a black t,
which stands out from the article
background, this relates to the
article as in it I claim that the
artist is different to the
conventional artist. The way I
chose to pose Dan reflects on how
the artist feels about his career, the
hands on the head show that he
finds what he does easy and it also
portrays his cocky attitude towards
life.
