Market leader in Fibre Channel ports shipped Enterprise data center proven reliability & performance Strong road map of products & innovations Partners with Oracle to be market leaders Over 18 years of joint product development (including Leadville/QLC & COMSTAR/QLT drivers) End-to-end engineering testing Reduces time to market and development costs Full marketing support Oracle Gold Partner Leadville is the code name for the StorEdge SAN Foundation Software (SFS), which Sun developed for the Solaris Operating System (OS). Solaris 8 & 9 did not have SAN built into the OS. Leadville is a new, open standards-based I/O framework and device driver stack to support FC. Since the Solaris 10 release, Leadville has been fully integrated into the OS, making it even easier for system administrators to use. This stack is available on SPARC, x86/x64 platforms. In addition, because the Leadville stack is integrated into the operating system, it is part of all the Solaris update releases, enabling continuous innovation and predictable quality. QLT driver is the lower level stack driver and coupled with COMSTAR (as the upper layer drivers) enables target mode storage. COMSTAR software framework is a state-of-the-art SCSI target platform that uniquely separates the SCSI protocol handling from the transport protocols (such as FC, iSCSI, SAS, and Tape). This facilitates higher performance and flexibility for a wide range of storage devices. 01/31/11
Let’s take a look at the products that comprise QLogic’s overall networking portfolio. Host Products, which is comprised of the multitude of adapters we market worldwide, represents approx. 72% of our revenue for the last fiscal year. Network Products, spanning FC switches, IB switches and iSCSI routers, represents 18% of revenue while silicon products, such as ASICs for FC and FCoE represent approx. 8%. The remaining 2% is comprised of services and other line items. As you can see we have a very comprehensive, end-to-end networking portfolio targeted at addressing the increasingly critical requirements of data centers worldwide.
QLogic’s high performance networking portfolio addresses three key areas: Converged Networking, where we offer our FCoE and Intelligent Ethernet Adapters; HPC Networking where we offer a broad range of QDR and DDR switches, adapters and pass-thru modules, and, Storage Networking, where we offer a broad range of products from end-to-end FC solutions to iSCSI Intelligent Storage Routers.
Now let’s take a look at QLogic’s revenue contribution by channel; approx. 75% of our revenues are derived from sales to Tier One OEM customers, such as Oracle, HP, IBM and other industry leaders. And approx. 25% is derived from sales to valued channel partners and distributors, including Info X, Hammer, Tech Data and Avnet. Working through our OEMs and channel partners we have successfully implemented QLogic networking solutions at leading companies such as Amazon.com, Warner Bros. and Mercedes-Benz.
The shift to 8Gb Fibre Channel is a key focus area for QLogic. The confluence of multiple factors—including a server upgrade cycle, the increasing prevalence of OVM, VMware and other hypervisors and the fundamental need for more bandwidth—are driving the need for enhanced 8Gb FC connectivity in the data center.

Converged Networking, Fibre Channel over Ethernet Network Adapters
FCoE target customer qualification
IP ownership in Network Convergence is very important. You don’t want to converge your networks using adapters that cobble together IP from multiple vendors, because if those vendors’ partnership breaks up or one of them gets acquired, it may ultimately be you left holding a dead-end product in your lab. Whether its FCoE adapters, switches, LOMs or pass-thru modules, make sure your IP comes from a single vendor so you have one company to hold accountable. The data center is already complex enough—don’t make it more complex by adding vendors who finger point at one another when a problem shows up.
