Photo Violation Technologies deployed a Cisco wireless mesh network to address issues with using cellular networks for its smart parking meters. The Cisco network provided faster transmission of license plate photos from meters to municipal offices. This also allowed Photo Violation to expand its business model by offering free public WiFi access within 300 feet of each meter, called WiCity. Municipalities benefit from increased parking revenue and an incentive to invest in city-wide wireless networks. The successful network has garnered interest from over 50 cities worldwide and led Photo Violation to explore additional wireless services.
