4. Completed in 2011 as the largest joint-use Armed Forces Center in the country. Its design
reflects contemporary security requirements while celebrating the history and stature of the
US military. This training center also houses a medical clinic and provisions for local disaster
mitigation. It can temporarily house and feed several hundred people, as well as provide
hygiene and medical services.

The diagram below illustrates the axial
alignment of important building spaces. The
first place that one experiences is the
entrances to the building. the entrances are
the thresholds between the outside world and
the holy space within. All entrances into the
building will lead visitors to the holy water font
before entering the nave. The radial floor
patterns and building fenestrations will lead
both the eye and path of travel of all visitors
toward the holy water font. Once inside the
nave the layout of the pews, as well as
interior details and finishes, will draw the eye
toward the altar and the front of the church.
The entire experience of entering the church
will take those who enter on a journey from
the outside world into the holiness of the
worship space.
