Hybrid/Blended Course Design Plan
Module Title: Midwifery 312E (NBM. 312E)
Purpose: The purpose of the module is to enable the students to function as competent practitioners with regard to women’s health issues as well as the child bearing process within the
primary Health care and hospital setting. Furthermore, it will equip the student with knowledge, skills and values required for the practise of midwifery in respect of mother and the baby and to
prevent any complications that may arise in perinatal using the scientific approach and standard protocols guided by the South African Nursing Council Rules and Regulations.
Learning Outcomes: Must be suited to the level of the course/module (NQF level descriptors and 6 Levels in Blooms’ Revised Taxonomy)

Course/Module Design Plan 3 Hybrid/Blended Course Design Plan Module Title: Midwifery 312E (NBM. 312E) Purpose: The purpose of the module is to enable the students to function as competent practitioners with regard to women’s health issues as well as the child bearing process within the primary Health care and hospital setting. Furthermore, it will equip the student with knowledge, skills and values required for the practise of midwifery in respect of mother and the baby and to prevent any complications that may arise in perinatal using the scientific approach and standard protocols guided by the South African Nursing Council Rules and Regulations. Learning Outcomes: Must be suited to the level of the course/module (NQF level descriptors and 6 Levels in Blooms’ Revised Taxonomy) Module Learning Outcomes What will students be able to do by the end of the module Delivery mode Activities/Content Delivery What activities and resources will you use to help the student achieve the outcome Assessment & Feedback How will student confirm their knowledge or skill? And how will feedback be provided to the student? Course/Module Technology Tools used in the module. 1. Utilize the international human rights that are relevant to women’s health and safe motherhood principles. F2F The tools used support the learning outcomes & competencies Online 2. Analyse the historical background of Midwifery in South Africa and interpret roles of a Midwife as prescribed by SANC. F2F Tools used promote learner engagement and active learning Online 3. Identify the female reproductive organs that are significant to Midwifery, the bony pelvis as it affects the passage of the baby during childbirth and the fetal skull diameters and the engagement. F2F A variety of technology tools are used in the module. Online
