Punk rock is characterized by electric guitar, drums, vocals and bands that explore themes of love, rebellion, and social issues through an edgy, rebellious style. Band members often have spiked hair, angry facial expressions and rip their clothing to appear as outsiders who don't follow rules. Early influential bands like the Sex Pistols used aggressive songs and mocking lyrics to rebel against conformity. This genre inspired fast, loud songs that resonated with teenagers' feelings of alienation in the late 1970s. Understanding punk rock's rebellious imagery and themes will influence the design of the magazine cover with black and white imagery and brightly colored text.

4. Punk Rock
Punk rock was inspired by rock and roll from the late 1950s and was
made in the late 1970s. The first big band to try this were the sex
pistols with their aggressive songs and mocking life in general such
as their version of god save the queen. The song mocked the queen
which gave it this rebellious attitude that a lot punk songs use
today. The members of punk rock band make themselves look odd to
other people to make them stand out such as their dyed/spikey hair
or ripped clothing to show they don’t play by the rules. This gave of
the cool impression to teenagers and young adults with their fast
and aggressive songs about life which some people could relate to.
E.g Anarchy in the UK and White riot.

5. How this will affect my work
This will give me in idea about how my front cover will look such as
the black and white imagery with the brightly covered text which I
could use as a theme for my magazine. When researching genre I
also noticed that most bands have a similar look to them mainly
their clothing and their facial and body expressions.
