2. WHAT IS LANGUAGE ?
A specific pattern of sounds,
symbols , signs or any
written script ,that conveys
message from one mind to
another is said to be the
language.

3. MAIN PROPERTIES OF HUMAN LANGUAGE :
• Displacement
• Arbitrariness
• CulturalTransmission
• Productivity
• Duality

4. LETS TALK ABOUT THE REFLEXIVITY FIRST !

5. Humans can think and talk about the language itself in their
language , this one is the most distinguishing feature of the human
language .This property is said to be Reflexivity .

6. DISPLACEMENT :
• Human language can refer to the moment with respect to time
• Animals cannot do so.
• Humans can talk and imagine about the abstract things like
Superman ,Marvel heroes etc .

7. EXCEPTION IN BEES :
Bees can refer to only place by :
• Round dace for nearby Nectar
• Tail wagging Dance for further
away .

8. ARBITRARINESS :
Arbitrariness is the absence of any natural
or necessary connection between a word's
meaning and its sound or form.
Like we cannot guess the meaning or any
object from the written or spoken from.

9. ONOMATOPOEIA :
Onomatopoeia is the process of
creating a word that phonetically
imitates, resembles, or suggests the
sound that it describes.
Meaning of Sound =The Sound itself

10. CULTURAL TRANSMISSION :
Language is not inherited from
the parents to their offspring in
genes , but is acquired by an
indivisual in the culture to which
he/she is exposed.

11. PRODUCTIVITY :
Human language has the quality of
“ Open Endedness “. It has the ability
describe new objects and situations .This is
the creativity of human language .

12. DUALITY :
Human language can be both written and
spoken , this property is know as Duality.
While animals` voices cannot be parsed
into indivisual phonemes and cannot make
any word .

13. CONCLUSION :
From the above explanations we can
conclude that human being is superior to
every creature on this planet and the
language we speak is no doubt of unique
properties that are of much complexities .
