Throughout their 40 years of wandering in the desert, the Israelites showed a lack of faith in God, which is why Moses was not allowed to enter the Promised Land. Before his death, Moses appointed Joshua as the new leader and blessed each of the 12 tribes. Joshua then led the people across the Jordan River and conquered the cities of Canaan through miraculous events like the falling of Jericho's walls. The land was divided among the tribes and Joshua reminded them to remain faithful to God before he died.
