PROJECT 5 SCHEDULE: Week 6
Professional Identity
The following schedule describes the steps you will need to do in order to compose
deliverables and the estimated time it will take most students to complete each step.
Estimated time you will need to complete this project: 8 hours.
Steps Do the Following Time
1 Skim the steps in this schedule, so you can plan how to manage your
time this week.
Read Handouts:
• Project 5 Assignment Sheet
Read the examples of P5.
Study slidedocs:
• 1a: How to Write a Resume OR 1b: How to Write a Curriculum
Vitae
• 2: How to Write a Cover Letter
Choose one of the following options and decide if you will need to
write a resume or a CV:
• Internship. Find an advertisement for an internship in your
field of study.
• Entry-Level. If you are close to graduation, find an
advertisement for an entry-level position in your field.
• Graduate Program. If you are close to graduation, investigate
a graduate program.
Send your instructor an email with any questions you have about this
Unit and its work (katiek@uidaho.edu).

2 Using the requirements on the assignment sheet and slidedocs,
begin drafting your Cover Letter and Resume/CV.
Tip: Consider reading some of the “Help Sheets” under “Project 5
Handouts”. They can help you using keywords, writing descriptions,
choosing active verbs, maintaining a master resume, and how to
electronically sign documents!

3 Once your drafts are done, consult the “Grading Criteria and
Wholistic Grading Rubric”. Identify areas you can improve on and
make those revisions. If you are unsure what to revise or don’t know
how to revise it, send your instructor an email (katiek@uidaho.edu).

4 Read the Web Article: “Tip Sheet: Building a Great Student Profile”
Study slidedoc 3: Creating a LinkedIn Profile
Signup for Linkedin.
Using the requirements on the assignment sheet and slidedocs, build
your profile page. Don’t forget to upload a profile photo, a summary,
your education, your job history (with descriptions), and make some
connections!
2 hours
PROJECT 5 DELIVERABLES DUE: Friday 6/25 before 11:59 PM.
Submit your work to the project 1 drop box as follows:
1. Deliverable 1: Cover Letter and Resume or CV. Submit a Word Doc or PDF. You
may submit one or two files. If one, separate the letter from the resume or CV with
a page break.
2. Deliverable 2: LinkedIn Profile Page. Submit the URL to your profile page at the
top of your resume or in the comment area of the submissions dropbox.
3. To avoid a point penalty, verify your submission.

ENGL 313: Summer 2021 Session I Page 1 of 2 PROJECT 5 SCHEDULE: Week 6 Professional Identity The following schedule describes the steps you will need to do in order to compose deliverables and the estimated time it will take most students to complete each step. Estimated time you will need to complete this project: 8 hours. Steps Do the Following Time 1 Skim the steps in this schedule, so you can plan how to manage your time this week. Read Handouts: • Project 5 Assignment Sheet Read the examples of P5. Study slidedocs: • 1a: How to Write a Resume OR 1b: How to Write a Curriculum Vitae • 2: How to Write a Cover Letter Choose one of the following options and decide if you will need to write a resume or a CV: • Internship. Find an advertisement for an internship in your field of study. • Entry-Level. If you are close to graduation, find an advertisement for an entry-level position in your field. • Graduate Program. If you are close to graduation, investigate a graduate program. Send your instructor an email with any questions you have about this Unit and its work (katiek@uidaho.edu). 2 hours 2 Using the requirements on the assignment sheet and slidedocs, begin drafting your Cover Letter and Resume/CV. Tip: Consider reading some of the “Help Sheets” under “Project 5 Handouts”. They can help you using keywords, writing descriptions, choosing active verbs, maintaining a master resume, and how to electronically sign documents! 2 hours
  • 2. ENGL 313: Summer 2021 Session I Page 2 of 2 3 Once your drafts are done, consult the “Grading Criteria and Wholistic Grading Rubric”. Identify areas you can improve on and make those revisions. If you are unsure what to revise or don’t know how to revise it, send your instructor an email (katiek@uidaho.edu). 2 hour 4 Read the Web Article: “Tip Sheet: Building a Great Student Profile” Study slidedoc 3: Creating a LinkedIn Profile Signup for Linkedin. Using the requirements on the assignment sheet and slidedocs, build your profile page. Don’t forget to upload a profile photo, a summary, your education, your job history (with descriptions), and make some connections! 2 hours PROJECT 5 DELIVERABLES DUE: Friday 6/25 before 11:59 PM. Submit your work to the project 1 drop box as follows: 1. Deliverable 1: Cover Letter and Resume or CV. Submit a Word Doc or PDF. You may submit one or two files. If one, separate the letter from the resume or CV with a page break. 2. Deliverable 2: LinkedIn Profile Page. Submit the URL to your profile page at the top of your resume or in the comment area of the submissions dropbox. 3. To avoid a point penalty, verify your submission.
