The document summarizes Project Tarzan, a media training program taking place in the Netherlands from February 17-28, 2010. The 10-day training will teach participants to communicate using all 5 senses and media, exploring how images, sounds and gestures can convey messages. Participants will practice communication skills, learn about visual culture and video production, and experiment with creative uses of media. The goal is for participants to learn methods for using media to engage groups and to transfer their new skills by organizing a community activity after the training. Priority will be given to young people from certain countries facing difficulties and those willing to share their knowledge locally.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

3. the story
Tarzan, born in the jungle, has
abilities beyond ordinary humans.
Swinging to his goal using vines and
tendrils at great speed, he looks
peculiar. He hangs out with apes. He
communicates with all species of
jungle animals, able to master a new
language in a day, gets along with
apes and humans alike.
He is the ultimate communicator.
How does he do it? It’s all about the
sixth sense. The ability to get our
messages across in the jungle of noise,
to reach all creatures in that jungle,
and to express messages, feelings,
thoughts, ideas, ourselves.
The five senses are sight, hearing,
touch, smell and taste. During the
training we introduce the sixth sense,
communication through media using all
senses.
4. We will work with the questions:
How can the five senses joined using
media? How can we communicate by other
means than talking? What are the wins and
the challenges in all this?
During the training
you will explore and
critically develop
your communication.
In this training we look at “media” as
communications composed of physical gestures,
images and sounds which create interaction between
people.

Winning video of the Birth of Image “How to
save the world” Challenge, 2010 March
5. inspiration
In Birth of Image we believe that
everyone has a message to tell.
The question is how to tell it.
If I accept that communication is the re-
sponse I get, it is relatively easy to check
the effect of my communication. All I
need is an audience, a video camera or
both.
6. Watch this on TED!
what do we offer?
During Project Tarzan you will:
>> practise your leadership and teamwork skills
>> see how (your) “image” works
>> participate in activities, games and processes
where movement, visualization, voice and
sounds will be actively used
>> receive feedback on the impact of your
communication from others around you
>> experiment and play with media and all your
senses
>> learn methods for the creative use of media for
activities with groups
“Information is confined traditionally
on paper or digitally on a screen.
SixthSense bridges this gap, bringing
intangible, digital information out
into the tangible world, and allowing
us to interact with this information
via natural hand gestures.”

8. the background
What is Birth of Image?
It is an 18-month project where young people develop their active media
literacy.
What is active media literacy?
It is the ability to read and write with moving images, to create, share and
understand media. During the Birth of Image project we are setting up
different non-formal learning environment, so that:
>> any young person from Lithuania, Hungary, Greece, Italy or the
Netherlands can develop his or her competences and skills in
audiovisual media
>> participants become able to construct, create and produce innovative,
new, grass-roots media, and they learn to share it;
>> participants improve their skills in analysing, assessing and accessing
new and old media products and formats.
Who funds us?
This project is co-funded by the European Commission’s Youth in Action
programme for promoting innovation in youth work. Additional funding
comes from participants’ own contribution, the European Youth Foundation
and the Olde Vechte Foundation.
9. target group
We are looking for young people with a motivation
to do something in their community or environment
back home.
>> Priority will be given to participants with specific
difficulties in their social or economical background*
and to youth workers working with this target group.
>> No previous knowledge or education are needed.
There is no selection criteria for participation.
>> Participants from Greece, Netherlands, Hungary,
Lithuania and Italy will be given priority due to
funding reasons. There a places for maximum 7-8
people from these countries.
* school, family, personal history, disability of any nature etc.
10. Multiplying the
knowledge you get
We require that each participant
follow the preparation and follow-
up activities of this training.
This means participation in
>> (a) the pre-training (online media
tutorials before the training,
communicating your motivation
using video)
>> (b) the training,
>> (c) and the post-training (you
will organize one activity in your
community of friends, colleagues,
family to actively use what you
learned in the training)
