2. Historical Factors A really long time ago… The people of Leiderdorp people lived in huts. The villagers were livestock-farmers. Simple dykes were built. In the middle ages… People started to build castles, monasteries, and churches.
3. Environmental Factors The good things… The ground wasn’t flooded unlike most of The Netherlands at the time. The not so good things… Supplies were limited. The land was quite marshy. Others… Leiderdorp later merged with the city Leiden.
4. Statistical Factors On the 30th of November 2009 the population was 26,446. The size of the town is 12.29 km2. In 2007 431 people out of the 1000 owned a car.
8. Glossary Dykes-are one of the many ways used by the Dutch to prevent the county from flooding. It is a huge wall of rock and dirt with water on one side and land on the other. Crest-Most cities and towns in TheNetherlands have there own. The crest represents the city/town. This is something castles had too.
