This document provides an overview of the business intelligence and reporting capabilities in Project 2010. It describes how Excel reports can be published to Project 2010 and consumed by report viewers. SQL Reporting Services reports can also be integrated and exported to different formats. Performance Point allows creation of dashboards blending content from published Excel reports, Visio diagrams, SSRS reports, and native Performance Point components, enabling features like KPIs, scorecards, filtering and drill-down. The samples demonstrate how these capabilities can be configured without additional tools or licenses beyond Project 2010.

Introduction
• The purpose of this slide deck is to give an overview of the
Business Intelligence (BI) and Reporting capabilities
available with Project 2010, also referred to as EPM 2010.
• Project 2010 is built on (and therefore requires) SharePoint
2010 and leverages its BI capabilities.
• The visual samples found on the next slides are not
available out-of-the-box after installing Project 2010, but
can be configured using standard functionality of Project
2010. No additional tools or licenses are required.
• The various components all use the Project 2010 databases
as a common data source.

• Reports are created by group of Report Authors using Excel
2010 or 2007 client application
• Once created, reports are published to the report library in
Project 2010
• Possible to publish entire workbook or selected sheets only
• Report Viewers consume the reports in Project Web Access
• Report Viewers do not require Excel; report is rendered
through Excel Services
• Sorting and filtering is still available

to display project cost information which were developed by

• SQL Server Reporting Services reports are printer friendly
• Export to various formats such as Word, Excel, PDF, XML or

• Therefore components are typically created by Sogeti
