STAFFING PLAN
Facilitators: Joel, Hayley and
Shannon
Volunteers: Hayden, Zach,
Sierra, Zac, Megan, and Ashley
Volunteer Duties:
Line up kids and assign each
individual numbers
Act as “Captains” for the teams
and lead kids in creating team
name and cheers
During the game, keep kids
energized by leading cheers and
positive reinforcement with
teammates
Help kids remember which
number they were and when
they are supposed to go
Keep track of which kids have not
participated and get them
involved
Establish boundaries of the field
and keep kids from wandering
Facilitator Duties:
Introduce game and our goals
for the activity
Describe game rules and
boundaries on the field
Split kids into two teams
randomly
During game, lead by calling
out numbers, getting kid’s
attention to reset between
rounds and cheering during
play
GOALS AS LEADERS:
Maintain a positive, enthusiastic attitude and demonstrate patience
Ensure that all kids want to participate and keep them motivated
Reach out to and adapt to kids that seem uninterested
Act as role models
Children Ages 5-8
(Kindergarten-3rd Graders)

• Achievement, Competency, & Self-

• Peer pressure and social acceptance
• Developing sense of right and wrong
• No keeping score (playing just for fun)

SESSION SCHEDULE
2:25 PM
Facilitators, Hayley, Joel and Shannon, arrive and gather equipment
needed to set up game (6 cones and 4 playground balls)
2:30-2:45 PM
Facilitators set up the field boundaries on the grass
Assign roles to each of the volunteers:
o Zac, Sierra, Ashley and Zach- Team Leaders
o Megan and Hayden- Observe boundaries, make sure kids
understand rules, encourage kids to cheer and be involved
2:45-2:50 PM
Kids arrive to field
o Have kids sit down in front of our facilitators
Volunteers sit down among the kids
Facilitators introduce themselves and explain the game, including:
o Rules, boundaries and teams
Facilitators introduce integrated learning objectives of teamwork
and enthusiasm while being physically active
2:50-2:55 PM
Facilitators break kids up into two even teams
Volunteers take teams:
o Come up with team name and cheer
o Assign each kid an individual number
2:55-3:25 PM
Facilitators lead the game of Steal the Bacon
3:25-3:30 PM
Facilitators end game
Gather kids together and debrief about what they learned on
teamwork and enthusiasm
o Ask kids specifics on what they enjoyed about the activity
End with group cheer
Facilitators clean up and put away equipment
STEAL THE BACON
TEAM 1 TEAM 2
Game Rules:
Two teams lined up opposite each other on either ends of the
playing field
One of the facilitators will call out 2 random numbers that has
been previously assigned to participants
Two kids from each team with the corresponding numbers will
run out and try to steal the “bacon,” which is located in the
center of the field (4 balls)
Each kid will grab a ball and race back to their team’s line,
whoever gets both team members back first wins the round
While teammates are running, all other members are cheering
for their team
After play is over, the teams reset on the end line and the
bacon is returned to the middle of the field
Each round facilitators call out different numbers and direct
different methods to get to the ball (skipping, hopping, bear
crawling, etc.)
Equipment/Setup needed:
(Diagram below in green)
6 cones (red stars)
4 playground balls (red circles)
