Natural and man-made disasters can adversely impact human societies, animals, and the environment by bringing permanent changes. Between 1995 and 2011 in the Amazon region, there were nearly 2,000 oil spills totaling over 129,000 barrels of oil from Chevron's operations, averaging about 3 spills per day over the 17 year period. This Ecuadorian campaign aims to raise awareness of the environmental and social consequences of the oil contamination in the region.
