• The Best Practices Explorer (‘BPX’) service was started in 2016 to expose scope item
information shortly after SAP S/4HANA program was launched
• However today, BPX does not fulfill requirements of a modern process platform, context data
and connectivity is not supported, the data model is insufficient
• Consequently BPX will be deprecated in Q3/23
• Process navigator is not a successor of Best Practices Explorer
• Data model, scope, focus and functionality of process navigator are very different
• Some functionality of BPX is no longer required as it does not adhere to product standards or is
just not used by stakeholders
• SAP Best Practices content was mapped against the EARL data model and all active packages
have been migrated to EARL by now
